Hello, Kitty!

Last week: The girls were asked to do a PSA about being beautiful inside and out—to not listen to the bullies. The young girl Alisha was paired with brought everyone to tears—including the audience. The Brits win the PSA challenge and get video messages from home. Annaliese’s friend wishes her well, so does Catherine’s parents and her dog while Alisha’s family is proud of her. Sophie’s boyfriend blathers on about the weather. British singer Estelle shows up to help with the girls’ photoshoot which involves the booty tooch. Sophie excels while Alisha and Kyle fall flat. In the end, Kyle was sent packing. Seven wannabes remain, who goes home tonight? Find out!

Wanna be on top?

Sophie celebrates her first photo callout. The Brits tear into their present as the Americans watch. Seymone thinks it’s just temporary for the Brits. And Laura celebrates Kyle’s departure while Alisha ponders Tyra’s comment about being “commercial.” She says in London she is considered “editorial.” She wants it badly and wants to show Tyra she’s editorial.

CREDITS!

Alisha and Seymone talk about Sophie’s picture. Before Alisha confesses about her family and all the jobs her parents have taken to support her.

TYRA MAIL! “Hope by now you’ve hit your stride. The fashion elite await.” The girls celebrate about catwalk. Then Martin, He Who Should Be Subtitled, talks about their brands. And he gives them some tips—about their pros and cons. Eboni says that the criticism is killing her creativity. Eboni, if that’s the case, wait. Until the criticism makes you want to work harder, you’re not mature enough for this.

LA…Woah, that montage made me sick. Excuse me. Okay, the girls come to the Beverly Hills Hotel where they meet Kelly. Annaliese isn’t too thrilled as Kelly doesn’t really like her. Kelly blathers on about the hotel before revealing that they are going to open the fashion show. The head of the Dorchester Collection, who will be awarding a designer at the show, explains who will be there. The designers come out and if they open for the winning fashion designer, they will get to go to one of the Dorchester’s other hotels. Catherine wants to redeem her Canadian failure.

The models walk for the designers. Catherine collides with a chair on her first turn. One of the designers has such a heavy Italian accent yet they still don’t subtitle her, like they did for Ashley. Alisha says that the girls are being fake with the designers and doesn’t like it. Look, kissing some ass never hurt anyone. Kelly thinks they need to step it up and she didn’t see anyone who stood out.

COMMERCIALS!

Kelly talks to the girls. She tells Eboni to keep her face relaxed. She tells Catherine to deal with shoe issues before the show. Kelly tells Seymone her walk isn’t good. Seymone doesn’t like the comment. Catherine notes that Seymone doesn’t have the best attitude. Seymone goes into a funk and Annaliese calls her out on it, comparing it to the one she was in in Canada. Before Jay told her to suck it up.

Kelly tells the girls who opening for who:

Alisha: Anndra Neen
Annaliese: Julian Louie
Sophie: Siki Im, Giulietta

They are the only three who are booked to opening for designers. The others will still be walking in the shows.

The judges walk in and Sophie says these people make the people in the fashion world. The girls get to talk to the judges. Catherine asks what is more important—personality or look. The judges say it’s both. That they have to have a personality to own their looks and that’ll make people take notice of them. Beforehand, the people file in as they try to find shoes for Seymone.

Alisha starts off for Anndra Neen, who impresses her designers. The other girls follow. Catherine hopes she doesn’t fall over and doesn’t. Sophie opens for Siki Im, leading the others, before opening Giulietta. Seriously, please subtitle the designer from Giulietta. Annaliese opens Julian Louie and impressed Kelly.

The winner of the fashion prize is…

COMMERCIALS!

So, we come back to find out the winner is Anndra Neen. The two women hug each other as Alisha feels happy for them. And celebrates being the challenge winner.

TYRA MAIL! “Who knew couture could be so Purr-fect.” Sophie can roll her “r’s.”

The girls go to Siren and Sophie is like “It’s pink!” Mr. Jay manages to tell them that they will be designing couture pieces made entirely of “Hello, Kitty” products with a straight face. Their photographer is Ann He, a 16-years-old photographer. Eboni wants to rock the photoshoot.

Catherine goes first and Mr. Jay tells her to have fun. She starts jumping and he likes it. Alisha follows. Mr. Jay says she embodies the persona of the garment. Sophie follows. Ann doesn’t think she has an idea for the shoot and Mr. Jay says she looks robotic. He loves Annaliese. As does the photographer. Seymone comes to the shoot and Mr. Jay realizes something is off. She complains about her headpiece and Mr. Jay is afraid her temperament will be a problem. Sophie says she struggled. Laura is next. Mr. Jay gives her a few pointers before we go on about her neglectful parents. Eboni is last. Mr. Jay looks confused. We see a bit of Seymone icing her forehead before we’re reminded that Eboni was poor. Mr. Jay knows that the pictures are bad.

That’s a wrap!

Someone’s going home! Oh wait, there will be six after this? You all know what that means—TIME TO GO ABROAD! The girls are nervous.

COMMERCIALS!

PANEL! There are judges—Nigel Barker and Kelly Cutrone. Our guest judge is Georgina Chapman, co-founder of Marchese. There are prizes and Tyra keeps meowing. Stop it, Tyra. The Americans are first with Seymone. Nigel thinks it’s Modeling 101. Kelly doesn’t like the angles. Tyra calls it “show and tell.” Laura is next. Nigel notes that she tends to contort. Kelly suggests winking. Tyra says that it reminds her of the jealousy she had for her best friend who had Hello, Kitty everything. Tyra, go to therapy! Anyway, Eboni is next. Georgina says she needs light behind the eyes. Kelly and Tyra tell her she needs to relax her face.

UK is next. Catherine is first. Nigel likes her face but the body is too obvious. Kelly says she wants to like the picture but something stops her. Georgina loves Catherine’s face. Alisha is congratulated for her challenge win. Kelly loves her picture. Nigel agrees and Georgina says she owns the picture. Extreme close up is extreme. Anyway, Sophie is next. Kelly likes the body but not the face. Georgina loves the shot. Annaliese is last. Nigel likes the pose but not the face. Once again, Kelly doesn’t like it. Georgina and Tyra like the shot as well. Georgina says she’d put it in the Marchese look book.

COMMERCIALS!

The judges deliberate. Nigel calls Catherine a “mad cat.” Kelly says her walk was painful to watch. Nigel calls Seymone “eh” and Kelly says she was rude at the challenge. Georgina agrees that Seymone has a painful walk that doesn’t connect with her face. Kelly calls Alisha a superstar but Nigel cautions that she can look like a mess. Kelly thinks Laura may be becoming a “one trick pony.” Georgina thinks the outfit is wearing Eboni rather than the other way around. Georgina liked Sophie in the show and Tyra likes her picture. Kelly says that Annaliese did very well at the challenge because she knows she’s been hard on the girl the entire competition.

COMMERCIALS!

ELIMINATION! The first photo goes to Alisha. She is joined by Sophie, Catherine, Laura and Annaliese. Eboni and Seymone are in the bottom two. The judges feel these two don’t realize the opportunity they’ve been given. Eboni: Doesn’t respect the branding advice. Seymone: Judges have heard she doesn’t take things seriously. So who stays? Eboni.

Tyra hugs Seymone. She says that the guests and Mr. Jay are at the photoshoots and challenges. She tells Seymone that she has to show the world how amazing she is. Seymone hugs the other girls. She talks about how other girls should’ve been eliminated because they were ready to leave. Umm, Kyle was eliminated last week. She says she wanted it and then asks to leave, like the producers blocked all the exits to make her film an exit interview.

*Contestant quit

Oh, Seymone, you didn’t go out well. The attitude gets you every time. And it looked like she was going to be the first “fiercely real” girl since Whitney won to go very far. For a few episodes, at least. But she was coasting. I am glad that Sophie is getting such recognition now. It’s starting to look like a Brit is going to win short of Eboni suddenly getting a redemption arc overseas. I’m still pulling for Sophie.

Next week: Going abroad! Silkworms!

Quote of the Episode
