The Revolution Will No Longer be Televised

It's been announced that ABC Daytime is shelving "The Revolution," the show that replaced my beloved "One Life to Live." It goes off the air in July, when it will be replaced briefly by an afternoon edition of "Good Morning, America." Then in September, I believe, the individual markets will decide whether to air Katie Couric's new show or General Hospital in that time slot.

I knew the time slot was promised, but I admit--I still hoped that there was a way to resurrect "One Life to Live." Was it possible? Absolutely.

Yes, most people in Llanview got Happily Ever Afters. But there were still doors left open. So, if you let me my flights of fancy (and the fact that it's my blog suggests you do), how would I revive One Life to Live were it possible?

On Monday: Open at Todd's trial, Nora as prosecutor. In the gallery is Blair, sitting with Tomas. Jack is with them as well. Tea and Dani sit together, Tea clearly pregnant. Viki sits behind Todd, looking worried.

At Llanfair, Natalie enters as Clint and Nigel are watching the trial. Father and daughter exchange small talk about John being out of town. She says that he'll be coming home soon (and he will!).

At the apartment, Matthew and Bo watch Nora on TV as well. Drew sleeps in a playpen by the men. The two talk as the opening argument continues. There's a knock on the door. Matthew goes to open it. Destiny is on the other side.

At Foxy Roxy's, Roxy and Rama watch the TV along with Aubrey. They comment about the courtroom drama. Roxy even says it's almost as good as "Sorority Row."

They cut back to the courtroom, where Nora finishes her statement. She implores the jury to find Todd guilty. And then we go to credits.

The first week back would be mostly the trial. All the usual people testifying. There would be cut backs to the others in Llanview. John would need to show up to talk about rescuing Tomas. And that would lead with his reunion with Natalie. Now, I think John would need to continue splitting some time between Llanview and Port Charles just to finish up his General Hospital story line.

Starr would come back as well. Sonny gets off and John convinces Starr to go back and support her dad. She refuses, wanting to get revenge. But on Thursday, toward the end of General Hospital, Starr is standing somewhere when a shadow crosses over her. Annoyed, she turns around to tell the person off. When she spies the person--who remains offscreen--she is surprised.

On Friday, the jury comes back. As they get ready to read the verdict, Starr bursts in. "Stop!" she yells. Blair goes to convince her daughter to calm down and let the trial continue. But she refuses saying she has something everyone should see. They look to the door and everyone gasps before the courtroom descends into chaos. The judge bangs his gavel as we get surprised reactions from Viki, Tea, Dani, Tomas, Jack, Todd and Blair. The camera pans over to show Victor Lord, Jr. standing there.

And that's how I would kick start "One Life to Live" again. If we had the hope of getting it back.

What about you?
