A Balancing Act

Last week on ANTM: The final five arrived in Morocco. They were assaulted by monkeys and then made to pose on a camel. Molly impressed Italian Vogue EIC Franca Sozzani while Alexandria and Kasia fell to the bottom two. Because of insecurity, Kasia was the first sent back to the US. Who will be eliminated tonight? Find out!

Wanna be on top?

Marakkesh, Morocco! The final four return to their home to see Molly’s picture. She thinks she can make the top two. I think she can as well. Brittani is proud of being in the final four while Alexandria talks about being in the bottom 2 again over her personality. Hannah goes on her rant about having a personality and that she can win it. Hannah calls Alexandria the California surfer-girl with spice, Brittani is the trailer park boundary breaking girl and Molly is scary. She takes it as a compliment. And Hannah recognizes she’s the girl next door.

Ms. J pays the girl a visit. He gives the girls their portfolio as they have an important client to see. He takes the girls to tea with Franca Sozzani. Hannah goes first while Alexandria pours everyone tea. Hannah talks about pictures that you rip out of magazines because of how beautiful they are. She then asks questions of Franca about how she got started and Franca gives an inspirational talk. Brittani talks about hoarding every copy of Vogue (American) under her bed and her mother threatening to throw them out. Brittani asks Franca about the future of publishing while Franca studies Alexandria’s and Molly’s portfolios. They thank Franca and she tells them not to take it easy.

Ms. J then introduces a woman balancing a tea set on her head. Her name is Noor and she’s a professional. The girls grab a tray and get lessons on how to balance the tray. Hannah compares it to practicing with books on your head. Brittani drops it a lot, as does Hannah. Molly manages to catch hers while Alexandria seems to be able to do it. They then learn some movements and Alexandria thinks she’s in the club, so Ms. J tells her to keep her model composure. Ms. J reveals the girls will be performing that night before a live action. The girls go get dressed as they panic.

COMMERCIALS!

Hannah continues to practice balancing before they change and board the Moroccan Model Mobile. The girls will be performing with professionals and balancing lit candles. This may redeem the fiery runway walk in which no one got singed! Ms. J tells them that they need to be serious because there’s only “Four of you bitches left.” I like to keep this family-friendly, which is why I call them wannabes. Anyway, the challenge starts. We see Molly in pink have a bit of a mishap and get bleeped. Molly decided not to pick them up and Ms. J noted that her face remained angry. Brittani is next in yellow. She impresses Noor and Ms. J, they remark on her transformation and the fact she didn’t drop the tray once. Hannah follows in blue. Hannah compensates for lack of hip movement. Alexandria finishes in red. Noor calls her “powerful.” She then drops it. Twice. She felt she was memorable though. Ms. J says she was too confident.

Results! Ms. J tells her her frustration showed the entire time. Ms. J calls Alexandria out on her overconfidence. He/She/It praises Brittani and tells Hannah she missed the Cycle 13 trip to Hawaii. Ms. J reveals that Alexandria was the runner up, but Brittani was the overall winner. Brittani opts to brings Hannah with her because she knows Hannah needs it and wants it. So the two go to a runway teach with Ms. J. She/He/It reveals that the final runway will be in an intimate setting and tells them to practice a half turn. Hannah gets work from Ms. J and she’s glad Brittani brought her.

The girls then go to the market that makes you want to start singing “Arabian Nights.” They go to a restaurant with brains, eye balls and goat heads. The girls are far more adventurous than I. Brittani nearly gags.

TYRA MAIL! “Ah the sweet smell of Soukces.” Brittani predicts “stinky” while Hannah predicts “market.” Brittani gets sick and worries about the photoshoot.

MARAKKESH! Hannah wants to go back to the market, but Brittani is still sick. The girls meet Mr. Jay at the outdoor market. They will be wearing designs from Daniella Issa Helayel, who Kate Middleton wears. Their photographer is Friedemann Hauss. He tells them to immerse themselves into the local culture while Molly is excited about being photographed by Hauss. Mr. Jay worries that Brittani is still jetlagged but she reveals she’s been sick. She says she’s using the time to zone out so she can have the energy on set. He understands that strategy.

Hannah is first. It’s a continuation of their camel shoot, now the princess has arrived in the city to meet her lover. Crowds gather to watch while Mr. Jay calls Hannah “glazed.” He tells her to change up her expressions. Hauss calls her “posey.” Uh oh. Hannah admits she doesn’t think it went well.

Molly is next and she realizes she’s been in profile the last two pictures. So she wants straight on now. She’s in a carriage and gets some tips from Mr. Jay. But otherwise, she impresses Mr. Jay and Hauss. And there’s a large crowd once again watching.

Mr. Jay talks to Alexandria. He tells her to let go on camera. He tells her not to be controlled, which she takes to mean about her attempts to direct. She hits the step and Hauss tells her to note the light. Hauss notes she’s not relaxed and the makeup people tell her to relax. Molly and Hannah watch her shoot and Alexandria thinks she was thrown by directions. Oy.

It starts to rain as Brittani gets ready with a bang trim. She tells Mr. Jay she’s saving it for the camera. Despite being sick, she nails it. She impresses Mr. Jay and he gets her story that she’s someone who saw this city on the horizon and finally reached it.

That’s a wrap.

Brittani says that after this, she needs a vacation…and then the Skull and Crossbones pop up. The girls feel weird that there will only be three after the next night. Molly thinks Alexandria is going home, but Alexandria feels she did her best. Brittani says they may have done their best, but now it’s about "doing the best.” Hannah thinks this is her last night, which Alexandria and Brittani challenge. So she declares it’s somebody’s last night.

COMMERCIALS! Wow, when’s the last time Ralph Laurence used a “My Romance” commercial? It brings back memories.

Andre gives Tyra something pre-judging. She then greets the final four. There are prizes. There are judges: Nigel Barker and Andre Leon Talley. Our guest judge is Daniella Issa Helaya. Alexandria is first. Andre praises Daniella’s clothes but that Alexandria looks crazed. Andre and Nigel don’t get the disguised princess story. Tyra doesn’t get editorial though Daniella thinks she looks lovely. Brittani is next and has to lose her scarf. Nigel notes she lost her arm but Andre loves it. Tyra thinks Brittani is closer to high fashion than Alexandria. Hannah is third. Nigel thinks her pose is the most editorial so far, but the face is lost. Daniella loves how the dress looks on Hannah. Andre says that they haven’t had a “wow” moment from her and Tyra tells her to learn about her face. Molly is last and has to lose her scarf as well. Andre calls hers “high fashion” and Daniella loves it. Nigel says she commitment the entire way. Tyra praises Molly for showing the clothes but not in a catalogue.

COMMERCIALS!

The judges deliberate. Andre doesn’t buy Alexandria. Nigel says she looks dramatic but she looks like a flight attendant. Daniella thinks she looks afraid. Andre loves Molly’s picture. Nigel calls her a chameleon but Tyra confirms that she sticks with tough face. They like Hannah’s body but not her face. Brittani does angles but Nigel wants her to take some risks. Daniella thinks Brittani is prettier in pictures, which Tyra says a model wants. ELIMINATION! The first person called is Molly. Tyra tells her to soften up her look occasionally. She is joined by Brittani. That leaves Alexandria and Hannah in the bottom two. They lock arms and stand before Tyra. She talks about the bad rap blondes get. As a blonde, I support that! Alexandria: Too much control to where her photo wasn’t high fashion. Hannah: Lacks control. Hannah doesn’t know what she’s doing. But she gets to stay because Alexandria took one trip too many to the bottom two. Tyra tells her that she has some of the strongest pictures, but those are only sometimes. She needs to bring it every time.

Tyra tells Alexandria to shake it out and relax. Tyra tells her relax and work her angles. Tyra hugs Alexandria, who then goes and hugs the other girls. She admits she might be too controlling and that she got some great lessons from the show. Good-bye, Alexandria.

*Contestant walked away from competition

And then there were three! We knew Alexandria wasn’t long for the competition. Melrose is the only one to get the “house bitch” edit and make it to the final two. The bitch usually makes it oversees and is either eliminated before making the final 3 or before making the final 2. I am still hoping for a Brittani-Molly walk off.

Next week: Final 3! Looks like Brittani starts crying and now I worry for a Brittani-Molly walk off.

Quote of the Episode

In an episode that involved fire and goat brains, I got nothing. Come on, girls!
