Face Off: BUGS!

Last week on “Face Off:” The contestants got to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain where McKenzie surprised them with producer/director Bryan Singer. He challenges them to make giants with multiple heads and McKenzie pairs them up. Meagan and Jenna have issues with their project, especially with Jenna’s hand injury. Anthony manages Autumn without her knowing. And Kris just does whatever Eric F. wants. In the end, their giant wins and Eric F. wins over all while Jenna and Meagan fall into the bottom with Eric Z. and Alam. Despite understanding her hand injury, the judges eliminate Jenna. Nine contestants remain, who will be eliminated tonight? Find out!

Face Off!

LA! Anthony says it sucks that Jenna isn’t there but Meagan is too drained from the experience. She wonders who will be next. If I have any luck, it’ll be Autumn.

McKenzie meets the contestants in the warehouse. She introduces Eliza Stuart from Make Up For Ever. Eric Z. is worried they’ll have to do beauty makeup. McKenzie talks about the trend to take fairy tale female characters and giving them a makeover. Which is the foundation challenge. Eliza says the winner will be get immunity and a makeup case from Make Up For Ever filled with their products. Meagan wants it. Badly.
The models come out with a fairy tale in their hand.

Wayne: Little Miss Muffet
Eric Z: Beauty and the Beast
Eric F: Little Red Riding Hood
Autumn: Snow White
Anthony: Cinderella
Kris: Hansel and Gretel
Alam: Sleeping Beauty
House: Rapunzel
Meagan: Little Bo Peep

They have to turn the good girls into bad girls. Eliza tells them to use something in the story to drive their transformation. McKenzie starts the clock. Eric F. grabs the prosthetics and make her a werewolf victim. Eric Z. is confident he can do this. House goes very white while Kris goes strictly beauty. Anthony changes the skin into embers and Alam ages Cinderella. Umm, how does “bad girl” transform into mutant and monsters? Little Miss Muffet is becoming a spider! Why does Snow White need hearts?

Eliza and McKenzie examine the results. Eliza wished Alam did more. I like Eric F’s idea but really? Eliza likes Wayne’s fangs. Eric F. and Wayne get top looks. And the winner is…Eric F. Sorry, Wayne. He is really excited for immunity and the kit. McKenzie dismisses them. Eric F. is really happy.

The next day, they return to the warehouse. There are pictures by McKenzie. She says these abstract photographs will be their inspiration for their challenge, but she won’t tell them what it is until after they chose their picture. Everyone does so and McKenzie has them zoom out to reveal what they are.

Coming Up: Problems! Problems!

What are they? Bugs…They have to create a bug/hybrid photo.

Meagan: Sunset Moth
Alam:
Anthony: Ant
Kris: Blue Morpho Butterfly
House: Honeybee
Wayne: Firefly
Autumn: Beetle
Eric Z: Mosquito
Eric F: Desert Wolf Spider

Kris curses choosing the butterfly due to the wings which also scares Meagan about moth. Eric Z is excited for the mosquito. House focuses on sculpting the face for his half-bee/half-scientist. He explains it to Eric Z who is like “Can I get back to my work?”

Wayne focuses on the glowing abdomen while Alam decides to do silicon. Autumn is happy to get a beetle and works on her sculpt. Anthony is stuck on his design. He’s sure he’ll be in the bottom.

COMMERCIALS!

Anthony is still feeling lost and he just wants to finish something. Meagan tells him not to shoot himself in the foot. Meanwhile, things are crazy in the mold room as people want to get it done before…TIME! Wayne still has a lot to do the next day.

Day 2! Everyone returns to the lab. Anthony continues working on his ant. McKenzie and her dad show up. Meagan is eager for his advice. He gives her advice for painting and the fur she wants to use. Michael tells Alam not to use too many colors. He thinks Wayne has a lot to do while Anthony admits he’s struggling. Michael though likes he is making the head bigger. They leave as everyone continues working. Kris is still trying to figure out how to make the wings. Meagan compares what she is doing with Kris so they aren’t too similar.

Alam likes her silicon but it’s TIME! She still has a lot to do and it seems everyone is in the same boat.

Day 3! The models arrive! Kris finishes his wings and he’s feeling confident. Anthony is still creating his foam chest piece while people are applying pieces. Eric Z thinks Meagan is too focused on the wings. Anthony gets his piece out while Meagan realizes she was too focused on the wings.

Coming Up: Judging!

Wayne arrives at the studio to find he forgot stuff at the lab. Anthony is stressing and Alam realizes she is running out of time. Her model’s bald cap is tearing while Meagan is not happy. TIME!

The contestants line up in front of the judges. Who are Glenn, Ve, and Neville. They bring out the creatures. Okay, I’m terrified of bugs. Like, seeing the pictures earlier gave me the heebie-jeebies and I may have stopped breathing. It’s a serious phobia. So everyone will be judged on a scale from “hahahaha” to "I’m hiding behind my hands.”

House: It’s creepy. But he’s not happy with it.
Wayne: I had to pause. It looks pretty bug-like.
Alam: It looks like an alien. Not a bug.
Eric Z: Oh. Lord.
Anthony: I’m not reacting. I think this is something I could see in a theme park.
Kris: The butterfly is gorgeous. Though I don’t get hybrid. I get LARGE BUTTERFLY instead.
Autumn: Dang, it’s standard for the work I’ve seen this week. She may not go.
Eric F: I think he actually got the hybrid note.
Meagan: It’s not as bad as she might think. Then again, I’m not an expert.

Well, only Wayne’s brought me close to feeling my phobia kick in. The judges take a closer look and don’t seem impress with Alam’s work.

COMMERCIALS!

We come back and they like Eric Z’s work. Glenn seems to like Anthony’s and Autumn’s (damn it!) looks. Meagan, Kris, Alam, Wayne, and Anthony are best and worst. The others—including Autumn—are safe. Meagan is up first. She thinks she went crazy with the hair but Neville says it is close to reality. But the judges aren’t crazy about the colors. Kris is next. Ve loves the butterfly’s chest. She likes the colors. Glenn loves it and the chest reflects Kris as an artist.

Alam goes next. Neville doesn’t like the “wings” and tells her if she runs out of time, not to put it on. Glenn doesn’t like all the colors and is not sure about the silicon. Ve calls it a “mish mosh.” Wayne is next. Glenn loves it. Especially the mouth movement and the way the makeup responds. Neville likes the silhouette and profile. Ve likes the color scheme. He admits he forgot the pieces at the shop and says there are no excuses. Anthony is last. Ve doesn’t like look. Neville calls the look “bizarre.” Glenn is not happy at all. Anthony promises to do better next time and Glenn says if there is a next time.

The contestants are dismissed while the judges deliberate. Neville is impressed with his skill and Ve loves the paint job. Glenn thinks Wayne spent his time on the right things. But he did incorporate the challenge. Neville notes Meagan is taking the notes but she’s still struggling. They did not like any of her choices. They were disappointing in Anthony’s choices.

The five come back out. The top looks were Kris and Wayne. Glenn says they have a situation that has never occurred. It’s gonna be a tie, isn’t it? We’ll find out after…

COMMERCIALS!

Well, it seems Wayne would’ve won but didn’t put in the challenge element so Kris wins by default. He’s happy though he acknowledges Wayne won.

The other three stand before the judges to see who gets eliminated. Meagan: Bad paint job and a confused makeup. Anthony: Struggled with concept and art reflected that. Alam: Makeup was strange and needs to make better decision. So who is going home? Alam. Meagan is surprised it wasn’t her. Glenn says it was her choices that did her in. Anthony and Meagan hug Alam. Neville tells her she has “a memorable and distinct vision.” She thanks them.

There is a group hug backstage while Alam says this is just the start before leaving.

Face Off

Alam
Alex
Anthony
Autumn
House
Eric F.
Eric Z.
Jenna
Katie
Kris
Meagan
Michael
Troy
Wayne

Wow. Anthony was in the bottom. That was a shocker right there, including Autumn’s makeup not sucking. But I feel most people ended up being more on the mediocre side than anything this time. Or maybe my bar was set too high.

Next week: Alien werewolves. Do they come with their own ninja monks? If you don’t get that, go watch the Doctor Who episode “Tooth and Claw” (Season 2, Episode 2 of the new series).
