Face Off: There Are Giants in the Sky!

Last week on “Face Off”: McKenzie brought the remaining eleven contestants to a bar for a beard challenge. Eric Z. won, getting immunity at Last Looks. The contestants were told to create a character where they incorporate candy into their design. Which meant monsters to most of our contestants. In the end, Kris dethroned Anthony to win the top look while Alex’s beauty pageant failed to impress the judges. Ten contestants remain; who will be eliminated tonight? Find out!

Face Off!

LA! Kris says that everyone is glad that Anthony’s winning streak is broken and it was a confidence boost. But he says he has to step up his game while Wayne just wants to end up in the top looks.

The contestants go to Magic Mountain and they become kids again. McKenzie greets them and says this Six Flags has the most roller coasters. Cool. She points out the giant redwood behind her and says their challenge is giants, especially Jack and the Beanstalk. They have to create an original giant character. Autumn is happy, Alam thinks they will have a lot of work. This is a promo for Jack the Giant Slayer as McKenzie brings out Byan Singer…She does know “House” is no longer on air, right? He tells them to take the actor’s personality and infuse the character with it. Bryan challenges the contestants to create a giant with at least two heads. It is a team challenge.

Team 1: Alam and Eric Z (Team ZAlam)
Team 2: Kris and Eric F (Team Fris)
Team 3: Meagan and Jenna (Team Menna)
Team 4: Wayne and House (Team HoWay)
Team 5: Autumn and Anthony  (Team AA)

McKenzie reveals that Bryan will also be a guest judge. He asks for something original and something that brings out the model’s personality. She dismisses the contestants.

Time for the design phase! Eric F. designs his and Kris’ giant and Eric F. likes that Kris is willing to challenge himself. House and Wayne decide to use the tree as inspiration. Meagan worries Jenna is thinking too big, so they decide on a head on top of a head.

The contestants go to chose their models. Anthony tries to be original and goes with genetic mutations. Autumn starts sculpting and Anthony thinks Autumn is a strong…contender…She’s been in the bottom looks two weeks in the row and is slightly delusional, Anthony. I’d be worried she might drag you down, Anthony. Anyway, Eric Z and Alam are working well together as House and Wayne sculpt together. Jenna tries not to focus on her hand problem and just keep working on their giant. Anthony gives Autumn some notes as he’s nervous about giving up the face sculpt.

Eric F. draws his idea for the giant on the floor and wants to make it 10 feet tall. Kris and the others start to worry if it will be done in time.

COMMERCIALS!

Autumn runs to the ladies’ room and tells Anthony to “please touch it.” So he does, saying he is letting Autumn think she has more control than she does. Smart man. Meanwhile, Team HoWay decides to lop a head off to be different. TIME!

Day 2! House says there is so much work to do. Alam is working on a foot while Wayne works on incorporating the tree into their sculpt. Michael and McKenzie come for a walk through. Team HoWay goes first. Michael tells them to watch out for colorings. Michael warns Team Menna about their edges. He likes Team AA sculpt and Team ZAlam’s color scheme. Michael asks Eric F. if he’s making sure that Team Fris won’t run out of time.

Team HoWay moves on to molding as do most teams. Jenna is frustrated working with a partner because of difference in styles. Meagan has to fix something on Jenna’s sculpt while Jenna wishes Meagan had more faith in her. Team Fris work on moldings together while Team Menna tries to open their model. Meagan doesn’t like the situation.

COMMERCIALS!

Eric F. decides to go help Team Menna open their mold, which he does. Meagan thanks him though she is getting stressed. Especially as the mold doesn’t close properly. TIME! Eric F. hopes they get everything done.

Day 3! Kris says his team has a lot to do and he’s worrywart. Meagan notes their face is messed up while Jenna hopes they can hide it. Team AA finds some tears but Anthony decides to work with them. The HUGE models arrive for application. Team ZAlam likes how their molds come out while Team Fris continues to work. We see painting while Autumn works on the wardrobe. Team HoWay is feeling pretty good while Team Menna worries about the second face so Meagan suggests putting it on his chest. Team Menna is frustrated with each other. Wayne notes the frustration. TIME! Meagan just wants to save the giant so he’s not an embarrassment.

COMMERCIALS!

The teams finish their applications before Last Looks. Meagan is still frustrated as time is called. Meagan is worried she’ll go home.

McKenzie greets the contestants and introduces the judges: Glenn, Ve, and Neville. As we know, our guest judge is Bryan Singer. McKenzie thanks him for being there before talking about the challenge.

Team ZAlam: Not sure about the heads on the feet, but the body is amazing.
Team Fris: Actually came out! And looks pretty amazing.
Team Menna: Isn’t as bad as I was expecting but I don’t see the other head.
Team HoWay: I could see that in a movie. Good job, gentlemen.
Team AA: Not too bad. It might keep Autumn around another week, though.

The judges go to take a closer look at the giants. Team ZAlam worries about their giant’s presence compared to the others. The judges seem to like Team Fris’ giant. Team Menna’s model can’t open his mouth. Meagan would rather die.

COMMERCIALS!

The judges move on to Team HoWay’s giant and go over Team AA’s giant.

Bryan says he’s impressed by their giants. Team HoWay are first before the judges. Glenn likes their giants but the proportions are off. Ve loves their color choices and Neville loves the body sculpting. Bryan likes the two heads can interact. Team AA are next. Ve liked it better up close than far away. Glenn is impressed with the sculpting. Bryan likes the work. Team ZAlam are up next. Glenn doesn’t like the heads on the feet and Ve thinks the rest is fabulous. Neville thinks the feet kill the rest of the look.

Team Fris is up next. Bryan calls it “ambitious” and likes that the tallest model is the smallest person. Glenn tells them to be impressed and it’s the biggest makeup. Kris says Eric F. came up with the idea, which Neville calls a “great” one. Team Menna is last. They admit it was frustrated and Jenna admits she can’t sculpt the way she could. She says she hindered Meagan. Neville says he can’t kick them while they’re done but the giant was bad. Glenn agreed. I thought Jenna was going to ask to be eliminated.

The contestants head backstage while the judges talk. They liked Teams HoWay, AA and Fris. Team Menna was bad and they discuss Jenna’s hand. Glenn wonders if Team ZAlam ever had second thoughts about the feet heads.

McKenzie brings the contestants back out. The winning team is…

COMMERCIALS!

Anyway, the winning team is Team Fris. Duh. And the overall winner is Eric F. Kris congratulates him as everyone applauds. Eric F. says it was amazing to win and hugs Kris. They are dismissed as are Team HoWay and Team AA.

Teams ZAlam and Menna step before the judges. Menna: The makeup was a problem from the start and the issues didn’t help. ZAlam: The feet. Just…the feet. Going home tonight is Jenna. Glenn says nothing shows she can get better while on the show. Ve hopes her hand heals quickly and to not let this get her down. Jenna agrees this is for the best and goes backstage. She is sad it ends here but she has to focus on her hand.

And…another monster challenge. But this one lived up to the coolness factor all around. I am a bit bummed Autumn gets to stay because she was paired with the awesome that is Anthony and his hair, but we’ll see what next week brings.

Next week: I…don’t even know how to explain the preview.

Quote of the Episode

“If we don’t pull it off, it will be the biggest failure in Face Off history. Literally.”—Eric F.
