Nostalgia Nook: Winnie the Pooh and Christmas, Too!

It’s almost Christmas! Which means many channels are breaking out the Christmas movies/specials. I will admit I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie, no matter how cheesy they may be. And ABC Family had a countdown to the countdown to the 25 Days of Christmas.

I’ve seen both Rudolph the Reindeer and Santa Claus is Coming to Town within the past seven days. And I love Santa Claus is Coming to Town. But then I saw another special I haven’t seen in years: “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas, Too!” And oh the memories it brought back!

So, let’s let this seasonal Nostalgia Nook begin! Beware heffalumps, woozels and SPOILERS!

Actually, there are no heffalumps or woozels in this special. This is a Christmas special based off “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,” which used to air on Saturday mornings in the early 90s. It’s shortly before Christmas and Christopher Robin comes to help his pals write their list to Santa Claus. Rabbit wants a fly swatter to keep the worm army from devouring his precious garden. Tigger wants snowshoes so he can bounce in the snow. Eeyore wants an umbrella to keep the snow off his house. And so on and so forth.

But uh oh! Pooh forgot to put down what he wanted from Santa. So he and Piglet go to find the letter. Once they do, everyone amends their wishes to Santa and they all put down pots of honey for Pooh. He is then charged with sending the letter on its way, but the wind changes. He tries to bring the letter to the North Pole as well. The denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood then get ready for Christmas. They even wake Gopher up to cut a bigger tree to fit the gifts Santa would bring.

However, the North Pole is too far for a bear to reach. So he decides to play Santa himself. But his friends suspect something is up when all their gifts backfire. They aren’t too upset though at the reveal since they had all been worried that Pooh would miss Christmas. They resign themselves to no gifts this Christmas.

But then Christopher Robin comes sledding down with their gifts! Seems Santa dropped them off at his house. Everyone got what they wanted and had a Merry Christmas!

And that was “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas, Too!” It brings back so many memories. I used to watch “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” as a child on Saturday mornings. I’m sure if I looked hard enough, I probably will find a VHS with this special taped on it. It was great to see the old gang with those familiar voices again.

So if you want a good Christmas special featuring Winnie the Pooh, get your hands on this one.
