ANTM: Nail It

Last time on “ANTM:” Jourdan couldn’t figure out how to evenly distribute phone time and then spent longer trying to calm down her boyfriend. This led to fighting and no doubt the producers cackling in joy. Perez Hilton and Bryanboy interview people on the street for…reasons…and Jeremy won a date with Jourdan. Which was pretty much Jourdan yammering on about her past. Then the wannabes then had to film a fragrance commercial while portraying the opposite sex. Cory was in his element and rose to the top while Alexandra and Jiana fell to the bottom. In the end, Alexandra was sent packing. Eleven contestants remain, who will be eliminated tonight? Find out!

Top Model

Cory’s video plays in the house and he rejoices in his win. But Jeremy does note Alexandra is in the video but gone. Jiana is shaken but feels better when Cory picks her to be in the Tyra Suite with him. Phil comes in while Jiana is trying on clothes in the Guess closet but Jiana is trying not fall for him again. Cory says Phil has ADHD but then kicks him out.

Meanwhile, China has a heart-to-heart. Chris H admits to caring for Nina (even using the “l” word) and says he hopes they win next time they are a team. Cory says he wants a chart of who likes who while Jeremy says he isn’t interested in anyone. Cory channels the audience and is like “Jourdan?” But Jeremy insists nothing is going on because Jourdan has a boyfriend.

Marvin and Don decide to prank the girls and tape their stuff to places. A feminine “WHAT THE HELL?” brings us to…

Wanna be on top?

Jourdan yelled it but the girls seem more amused than angry. The girls are pretty cool about it, even though some underwear and bras are on the ceiling. But the guys get them while the girls talk revenge. Renee says they need to take the house back and she’s willing to work with Jourdan just to work against the boys.

The next day, they board the model mobile to meet Kelly at a ranch. Jackie Fraser-Swan greets them and she is a descendent of Ralph Waldo Emerson. That’s cool. So the models will be coordinating their own shoot for Emerson while doing “random acts of modeling.” You know, the thing Tyra hopes we start trending on the internet?

Cory’s team: Jiana, Phil, Chris
Kanani’s team: Renee, Jourdan, pass
Don’s team: Marvin, Nina, Jeremy

Since Emerson is only for women, the men have to wear regular outfits Kelly pulled for them. Don’s team is worried about Jeremy but Nina seems to have things under control. Cory decides to go “extraterrestrial” to take a risk and stand out. Phil’s ADHD seems to be bothering him and he cuts the sleeves off a shirt. Kelly is ready to kill him.

Kanani’s team goes first. They are three orphans adopted by a weird family. Don’s team is Jeremy is a farmer whose workers (Don and Marvin) are sleeping with his wife (Nina). And Cory is the alien who landed on the farm, discovered by the owners (Phil, Chris and Jiana) while Phil is a runner. No one else feels the running. Phil and Cory argue about it. Don’s team is working well together. So does Kanani’s team. Jourdan also apologizes for screwing up the phone schedule. Kanani says she accepts it. Meanwhile, they got a decent set up but Phil falls off the fence. Then he breaks a fence when he throws the branch he was holding. This brings us to…

COMMERCIALS!

Kelly and Jackie review Cory’s team. Jackie wasn’t feeling it and Kelly reveals the damaged property will be reflected in their score. Jackie did like Kanani’s approach. Kelly reveals that Don had the best photos but Nina was not in all of them. So Kanani’s team wins the challenge. Kelly dismisses them without revealing what they won except 9’s in their challenge scores.

At home, Jiana is disheartened to see her team’s scores of 6’s. She says she is upset and complains about Phil. But argues with Chris H, who hates people who sigh and roll their eyes. Really? Nina tries to calm him down and tells him to stop attacking everyone. Nina says she’s upset because of her score but she’s not taking it out on anyone. But he’s now got her fighting and upset.

COMMERCIALS!

We return to the Nina and Chris H fight. Kanani’s like “Nina, he’s not worth it.” Marvin says he directed all his anger to Nina and it wasn’t healthy. He tries to hug it out but Nina’s too upset. Chris H leaves.
Jeremy and Don plan another prank: put clown dolls in their room, set one to play and hide it. So Phil helps them hide them. Kanani, who is afraid of clowns to the point of phobia, flips out. She actually has to use an inhaler because of her reaction. The other girls try to calm her down and Kanani hopes this doesn’t affect her.

The next day, Johnny reveals to the models that they will be modeling nail art because Tyra wants to make it a thing. Okay. More importantly, they will be modeling solo this time! Yeah! Phil thinks the girls have an advantage while Chris tries to repair his relationship with Nina. Is China no more? (PS: I want Nina’s hairstyle. It’s gorgeous)

Anyway, our photographer is Franco Lacosta who is GORGEOUS! And foreign. Jiana is up first and tells her to be a phoenix. And he’s a bit crazy. Jiana manages not to laugh at him. Nina gets to pose with the theme song in her head. But she’s distracted from the whole Chris fiasco. Franco hates her mouth and tells her to do her job. But the whole Nina thing is bothering him too. Chris struggles.

Cory asks if he looks too girly but Franco says he isn’t. Franco likes him. J2 continues to flirt. Or Jeremy thinks they are. Jourdan thinks he’s immature. She calls him desperate and obsessed. Jeremy responds “No wonder no one in the house likes you.” And then Jeremy goes to pose and tries to shut Jourdan out. Johnny tells him to commit more and Jeremy tries. Franco tells him to focus and silences Jourdan, who is still talking smack about Jeremy as we go to…

COMMERCIALS!

Once the set is quiet, Jeremy tries again to impress Franco and Johnny. Doesn’t do so well. As Franco directs Marvin, he switches language which gets subtitled. Johnny even motions to where they are. Renee gets saddled with “Pot Ledom.” Remember that. Don rocks it and Phil thinks they just always make him Jesus. But he struggles a bit. Kanani, meanwhile, is still on edge from last week. The editors stick a clown image behind Johnny as Kanani poses. Franco thinks she’s unfocused. The boys feel bad about their prank given her fear. Jourdan impresses Johnny. That’s a wrap!

Skull mail! There be bad news…why are you giving spirit fingers, wannabes? Anyway, the mail says only nine will be continuing on so there will be a double elimination tomorrow. Everyone is on edge. Jeremy is worried about getting eliminated. He says he’s getting better and wants to win. Kanani and Jiana are nervous as well. Kanani worries about disappointing her daughter. Serious faces bring us to…

COMMERCIALS!

It’s time for panel! Tyra greets everyone. There are judges—Kelly, Rob, and Bryanboy. There are prizes. Cory goes first. His theme was “Tyra.” Rob and Kelly love the shot. Tyra calls it “slamming.” He did her proud. Scores: 9, 9, 10. Don is next. Rob says Don’s face can do editorial and commercial. Kelly doesn’t think it’s fierce nor does Tyra. Scores: 7, 8, 9. Kanani follows. Kelly loves the shot but Rob says her eyes are dead. Tyra thinks it’s a shot taken before Kanani was ready to shoot. Scores: 9, 5, 5. Jourdan is next. Kelly loves it and Rob calls it “amazing.” Tyra says she lost her neck and it lowered her photo a bit for her. Scores: 9, 8, 9. Phil follows. Rob thinks he looks too feminine and Kelly doesn’t like it. Tyra likes his eyes but the social media isn’t very forgiving. Scores: 7, 8, 7.

Jiana follows. Rob loves how she is symmetrical. Kelly thinks there could’ve been more. Tyra notes Jiana’s face is square so she has to find her angles. Scores: 7, 5, 9. Nina is next. Kelly doesn’t like it. Tyra likes Nina was playing with the angles but didn’t quiet achieve it. Scores: 7, 8, 6. Chris goes next. Rob thinks he is still masculine but Kelly’s unsure about the eyes. Tyra says the picture makes her proud. Social media is not impressed. Scores: 8, 10, 9. Renee is next. Kelly loves it but Rob thinks she’s okay. Tyra asks about her neck as well. Scores: 8, 7, 7. Jeremy steps up. They note he is nervous. And Kelly and Rob aren’t impressed. Tyra calls it soft and okay. I like the video guy they show. Scores: 5, 7, 5. Marvin is last. Kelly loves it as does Rob. Tyra gives him his praise in Spanish. Scores: 9, 10, 9. Tyra dismisses the wannabes so they can tabulate everything. We go to…

COMMERCIALS!

ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Jourdan. She is joined by: Marvin, Cory, Chris, Don, Renee, Nina, and Jiana. Phil, Jeremy and Kanani end up in the bottom three. Jeremy: Stuck—not getting worse, but not getting better. Kanani: Beautiful girl. Picture not great this week. Phil: Great personality but not in his photo. Who is eliminated first? Jeremy. He says his goodbyes, with Marvin crying. He says he let down his mother but that she’s still proud.

So who is staying of the three? Phil. Kanani crumbles to the ground, crying, as Phil takes his picture and joins the others. Tyra gets down to comfort Kanani and asks if she’s mad. Kanani says she is and Tyra says to take it and put it into her pictures so she can come back. Kanani says her goodbyes and Marvin apologizes for the clowns. She says she’s going to do her best and will have the same drive she did when she went into the competition.

I was not expecting a double elimination! And I was expecting Phil to go as maybe a “surprise” elimination who will be the frontrunner to come back. Right now, I think Mike might have the best chance. Anyway, I would love to see the girls prank the guys now.

Jourdan’s not doing herself any favors, is she? Yes, she apologized but then she rejected Jeremy in a very callous way. In doing so, she probably burned the last person to defend her—though he was eliminated anyway.

Anyway, in my romance poll we had a tie—Phil/Jiana (Phiana) and J2 (Jeremy and Jourdan) received one vote each. Well, we’ll see what happens with Phiana now.

Next week: Marvin vs. Chris.

Quote of the Episode

“Guys don’t sell nails.”—Phil about the shoot
