OPA!

Last time on ANTM: Tyra decided that since I started watching the show in Cycle 5 and missed “Shake Ya Booty,” I should be subjected to music videos. So each contestant had to write her own song, record it, get it autotuned and then make videos with Game. Allison rose to the top with her song inspired by her father’s untimely death while Angelea and Alexandria fell into the bottom due to not being engaging in their videos. But Angelea was just a tad more engaging, so Alexandria was (thankfully) sent home. Six girls remain, which means it’s time to go abroad! Who won’t spend more than a night or two? Find out!

Wanna be on top?

Anyway, they then go to lunch. And Dominique’s children are adorable! She calls them her inspiration. Angelea says she wants to like Dominique but thinks she’s too fake. The girls say grace as Angelea wonders if Dominique is going to crack. But her stank face is blamed on spicy food.

They get to see Allison’s video as Lisa says Allison isn’t the entire package. But Lisa is…What the hehll is Andre wearing? He brought them dinner at least, served by dancing waiters. Who break plates. OPA! Because that’s how they find out they are going to Greece. This is going to be slightly insulting to my heritage, isn’t it? Especially as Lisa can’t even pronounce “Opa” right. Anyway, Laura yells she’s never been overseas before (true—her cycle only went to Hawaii!) and that she gets to show the world she’s a model. Andre tells them to pack and they run off chanting “All stars” before…

CREDITS!

Everyone packs and leaves their house. They land in Athens and you wouldn’t know this country is months away from threatening Europe’s economy. Ms. J meets the girls with Vicky Kaya, host of Greece’s Next Top Model. She welcomes them to Greece and congratulates them. But they aren’t staying in Athens—they are going to Crete, where they will have a press conference. Vicky tells them to come up with a one-minute speech in which they have to charm their hosts. The winner of this challenge will get a piece of jewelry from a Greek jeweler. Laura worries about speaking Greek. It’s not that tough…however, I only speak a few phrases myself.

Ms. J asks Angelea if she is writing her speech, but she says she’s just going to do it from her heart. This can’t be go…They are so going to get new makeovers! Angelea’s hair is covered as well!

COMMERCIALS!

A small group of Greeks wait to hear the girls’ speeches. Ms. J wishes them luck as Lisa leaves. She introduces herself in Greek and goes well until she yells, “Rock and roll!” Allison is next, speaking mostly in Greek. She praises the mythology and the muses. Shannon is next, commenting on the wind. And she is right. Ms. J didn’t like her speech. Next is Dominique. She actually gets a question but the Greeks applaud. Laura stumbles in her speech but manages. She says she’d be Venus…you mean Aphrodite, sweetie. Angelea is last. She asks to see Mt. Olympus before asking for the bathroom. Ms. J laughs. He dismisses the girls.

The wannabes go to the Blue Palace Resort and Spa, where Allison’s video is waiting. They love their room, including a pool. Ms. J greets the girls to announce the winner. Angelea realized her fatal mistake of asking for the bathroom. The winner is Allison. Yay! And take that, Lisa. Ms. J introduces Lina Fanouraki, who owns her own jeweler. She gives Allison her prize and Angelea confesses that she would’ve won if she hadn’t made her gaffe. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, Angelea.

The next morning, Mr. Jay visits the girls. He talks to them about the final runway, saying they would get to collaborate with a designer to make their final runway gown. He introduces Michael Cinco, who was part of the landfill shoot last cycle. Mr. Jay reminds them that while all six will work with Michael, only two will get to wear his dresses. Each girl meets with him and he calls Lisa’s dress idea “tacky.” And you know Allison is thinking that she can do a better job.

Laura isn’t feeling well but she still heads out to meet Mr. Jay. He welcomes them to their first photoshoot. They will be in a Greek salad modeling underwear. Shannon’s like “What part of I don’t do that don’t you all get?” as we go to…

Sparah.

We come back to Shannon’s dilemma and Mr. Jay says that they will talk about it. Nikos Papadopoulos is their photographer. Allison thinks the lingerie looks more like bathing suits and loves them. Shannon says she doesn’t model underwear and wardrobe tells her it is easier to change the model than the prototype. Yay! Anyway, Dominique rocks her salad shoot before Shannon gets her talk. Lisa calls her loyal to her brand. Mr. Jay says they went out of their way to find underwear that looks like a bathing suit. Shannon refuses to do the shoot.

Angelea is next. Mr. Jay thinks she is struggling upright but is better lying down. Angelea is confidant in her shoot. She celebrates while Laura is curled up in wardrobe. Dominique notes that anything will send them home at this point as we go to…

COMMERCIALS!

Allison is next. Allison is having trouble with being in the sun and the photographer works with her. Mr. Jay tells her not to make a face. He thinks she was struggling and she’s convinced it was bad. Lisa is next. Angelea doesn’t see model as Lisa models while Shannon is worried about going home. Laura is last. She doesn’t think Shannon’s refusal to participate will send her home and wants to step it up. Mr. Jay doesn’t think Laura wasn’t model enough.

Back at the room, the wannabes get their elimination message. Allison and Dominique talk while they get ready in the morning. She doesn’t know who is going home. Laura meanwhile talks with Lisa and Shannon. Shannon knows she will have to explain, especially because it wasn’t traditional lingerie.

COMMERCIALS!

Tyra welcomes the girls to panel. She introduces the judges—Nigel Barker and Andre Leon Talley. Their guest judge is Nikos. There are prizes. Tyra starts with a pun, introducing Allison. Tyra congratulates her. Her eyes are closed, but it works. Nikos likes her. Angelea is next. The judges like it but Nikos says he felt awkward while shooting her. Angelea says she felt awkward, but Tyra says she modelled H2T. Lisa is third and Nikos compares her to a computer program picking the poses. Shannon follows. She makes her case for not doing the shoot. Nigel says that he feels it’s semantics with her—lingerie vs. swimsuit. Tyra tells her that it’s important to stand for something but her whole portfolio will have to be considered. Dominique is next and Tyra loves her curls. Nigel loves it as does Andre. Laura is last. Nigel isn’t blown away by her picture, neither is Andre.

COMMERCIALS!

The judges deliberate. The judges agree that though Allison had difficulties, she made it work. Andre isn’t too sold on the photo but Nigel likes it. Nikos says Lisa wasn’t spontaneous. They call it a swimsuit shot rather than lingerie. Nigel calls Laura “opposites”—sweet in person, sexy in front of a camera. They love Dominique’s picture. They then come to Shannon’s. They still think it is semantics.

ELIMINATION!

After the commercial break, natch.

ELIMINATION! (For reals, this time!) Best photo this week goes to…Dominique. She is joined by: Allison, Angelea and Lisa. Laura and Shannon are in our bottom two. Laura: Brand is “lovable” but wasn’t lovable this week. Shannon: Loyal to her brand, but the judges are confused. So Laura gets to stay. We all saw that coming, right? Tyra tells Laura to dial the sexiness back.

Tyra tells Shannon that she wasn’t going home just because of the photoshoot. She’s also never had best photo or won a challenge. Tyra tells her to go back to the great model that is inside her.

Shannon says she has no regrets and is happy to have come to Greece. We see her music video and she says her husband will be proud of her.

Aren’t we due for a recap episode? Soon? Or are we not getting one this cycle? Anyway, I’m not as insulted as I could’ve been. Yet. Though I wouldn’t be able to have modeled in the salad. I’m a bad Greek—the smell of Feta cheese makes me sick. I’m wondering if Top Model also accidentally tipped their hand. Both Angelea and Allison were seen in confessionals with their hair covered. No one else. Last cycle, the final two (Brittani and Molly) got makeovers right before their runway. So have we be accidentally spoiled on who makes the final two? Hmm…

Next time: Drinks, bitchfights, etc.

Quote of the Episode

“I’m the sweetest girl out here. Don’t tell anybody, it’ll ruin my bad girl image.” –Lisa to Mr. Jay
LA! Laura says “And then there were six” before someone congratulates Angelea for making it. She congratulates Allison on her first callout. Allison’s confessional is done with her hair in a rag. Are they getting another set of makeovers? Oh, Shannon blathered on.
