ANTM: Work the Room

Last time on “ANTM”: It was forever ago, right? Well, the models made it to Vegas and settled into their new penthouse. Don from Cycle 20 showed up to judge a challenge, which Mame won. Hadassah wondered why Dustin was back and took delight when he botched the music video. But she didn’t do so hot either, landing in the bottom two with him. But she was spared once more and Dustin was sent packing. Again. Six models remain—who will be eliminated this week?

Find out!

The models return to their penthouse to see Mikey’s face on their screen. He announces that he’ll be sharing the Tyra Suite by himself and tells Lacey to get her (bleeped) out. Charming. His TyTyTip is that he does well with motion so to try to use it at his next photoshoot.

Mikey goes to the Tyra Suite and says Ashley would’ve liked it. But he confesses that Ashley is gone, they weren’t dating, so it seems Mikey is going to go find another girl. I hope Ashley hasn’t contacted him since the cycle ended.

Hadassah talks about her critique from the panel and talks about being really far away from the pageant world now. Mame doesn’t look convinced. She then tells Lacey that she looks the same in every shot and Devin says that they are sick of Lacey winning. He thinks there’s some favoritism going on and Lacey insists she works hard. We see her TyTyTip from forever ago where Tyra tells her not to let the others get to her.

Mame and Hadassah take over the Tyra Suite. He jumps in between them and assumes they are there for sex. Hadassah seems down with it.

Wanna be on top?

Mikey informs us there was no sex last night but he’s still hopeful. Hadassah does admit she has a crush.

The models head off to Zappos. Kelly greets them and explains that Zappos is relaunching a luxury platform. She turns it over to Melissa Costa, who is head of Brand Marketing for Zappos Couture. She explains more and Kelly says that Tyra is good friends with the CEO of Zappos, Tony Shea. So he’s filmed a video for them to watch. He wishes them luck as Devin compares him to Steve Jobs.
Everyone jumps into the ball pit because…duh. Melissa takes some pictures of the models as they hang around the Zappos offices. The models are told the winner will be the face of Zappos Couture and everyone freaks out. Mame says it makes her realize she needs to step up her game and bring out her “wow” factor.

Afterwards, they head off some place else where Melissa and Kelly are joined by Miss J. He says they are going to have a runway challenge. Kelly explains they’ll be doing it “salon style” where they will be working the room, modeling the clothing. Miss J shows them how to model the room, saying they should look engaging but Kelly reminds them not to make eye contact. But there’s an internet twist! The people will have the right to ask them to change their look and they have to do it quickly. The winner will get an outfit from Zappos.

In hair and makeup, Hadassah asks Kelly about the judges’ comments at the last panel. She says she didn’t think she deserved to be in the bottom two. Kelly tells her to suck it up and says her film wasn’t as strong as the others’. Hadassah keeps arguing, saying she thought she did better than Lacey and asks Kelly if Lacey has faults. Kelly tells her not to focus on Lacey but focus on herself. Nyle jumps in and says he focuses on himself and Hadassah needs to do the same. Hadassah thinks she’s being attacked for asking questions. You’re being attacked for being a twat. Hadassah breaks out about being bullied for being rich but she wasn’t and…this has nothing to do with that.

Lacey is up first to model salon style. She “ma’ams” Kelly, who is like “What?” Her first walk doesn’t impress and the other models are pleased that Lacey fell flat. She heads backstage and changes into her next outfit. Lacey does much better on her second turn and then it’s Mikey’s turn. He does well on both turns. Melissa and the others loved Nyle on both his turns. Mame handles her first turn but has a problem with her shoes before her second one. They’re too big and Kelly calls for tape as we go to…

The chaos backstage is not reflected when Mame hits the room. Melissa loves the shoes. Hadassah goes next, gleeful that Lacey didn’t do well and deciding she can own it. She starts doing spins and Miss J starts making faces. He says she still has a very pageant way of moving. Anyway, Devin is last and Kelly threatens him to be serious. Devin says he’s done this type of runway before so he believes he nailed it.

Afterwards, Melissa tells Lacey to let her beautiful energy come out more. She tells Hadassah that she didn’t have much energy and didn’t seem very comfortable. The favorites were Devin, Nyle and Mame but the winner is…Mame! She celebrates her win. Miss J dismisses them.

At the penthouse, Hadassah and Lacey are not thrilled with their scores. Hadassah says she needs to step up her game at the photoshoot. Mame opens her prize and admires her items.

Mikey then announces that he’s taking a shower so he’ll be naked. So? Hadassah runs into the Tyra Suite and blocks the door. Mikey says she just has to ask and does seem to be flirting with Hadassah. Nyle says they are flirting and that they aren’t focusing on the competition. Mame thinks Hadassah is focusing too much on Mikey rather than the competition.

The next day, Yu Tsai welcomes them to their photoshoot. He says they will be part of Top Model Fierce-o-gram. First, the photo will be cropped to look sweet but when expanded, it reveals a wild and crazy scene. And there will be hashtags. And Miss J. He’ll be in all their photoshoots and the others will be in the background. Yu Tsai sends them backstage to hair and makeup.

Lacey is up first with #responsiblespending. Mikey and Devin join her in her shot. Oh look, Erik Asla is back as the photographer. Yu Tsai tells her to stand out like Miss J. And the rooster. Yes, there’s a rooster in the shot. Mikey thinks Lacey is struggling in the shoot. Yu Tsai thinks she’s getting repetitive as well.

Hadassah follows with #studyinghard. Nyle in a beer hat, Devin and the rooster join her with Miss J. Hadassah grabs a can of whipped cream and sprays it on Nyle. Devin is next with #everythingisundercontrol. He is holding baby dolls, Miss J is dressed as a baby, Lacey is involved and there’s a rooster. Yu Tsai wants him to let loose with his body and not just focused on his face.

Nyle is next with #golfingwiththeguys. Mikey, Hadassah and Mame give him an assist while Miss J chills with the rooster. Nyle thinks he’s proven that deaf people can do anything. Mame follows with #missingyou. She does miss Justin but in the wide shot, Nyle is eating sushi off her leg while Hadassah is there as well. Yu Tsai thinks Justin going home helped Mame to focus. While Mame nails her shots, Hadassah struggles with the rooster. But she starts to nail it and Yu Tsai praises her. However, it might still be too little, too late.

COMMERCIALS!

Mikey talks to Yu Tsai and Erik about moving. He has #closethedeal. Mame and Hadassah show up and say they’ll give him some help with their energy. I guess it works because Yu Tsai loves him. As Mame goes spread eagle, she says Mikey is cute. Devin’s like “Mame and Justin, Ashley and Mikey. Stay together.” Aww, he has OTPs.

Yu Tsai calls a wrap and then showers the models with confetti as he tells them they are going for a ride down the Vegas strip in a limo. Woot!

Everyone but underaged Lacey enjoys some champagne. A TV in the limo shows the skull message and Lacey admits to being scared after her challenge. She says she feels like a beautiful woman. Mikey toasts to everyone and then gets drunk. He suggests a threesome between him, Hadassah and Mame. Hadassah is down for it. She says what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Unless you’re on a reality show, surrounded by film crews 24/7.

Devin is upset for Ashley’s sake. He confronts Mikey, who is like “Leave me alone, bro.” Devin accuses Mikey of sending Ashley home. He calls Mikey out on coddling Courtney and Ashley but smirking when they went home. And now he’s moving on to someone else. They curse each other out and Devin tells Mikey he’ll look like a womanizer.

Hadassah wanders over and he talks to her. She does drop a truth when she says Ashley went home because of her own actions. But then she says Ashley sucks. Mikey says he doesn’t want to talk about Ashley and says Hadassah is too much of troublemaker to get involved with. He says she lost to him and Hadassah leaves.

COMMERCIALS!

Las Vegas was short lived as they models return to LA for PANEL! There are prizes. There are judges—Miss J and Kelly Cutrone. Lacey is up first. Tyra likes the cropped, saying it has some danger but enough sweet to fool daddy. Kelly likes her full body rather than just the cropped shot of her face. Miss J suggests more energy on set.

Mikey is next. Tyra likes the close, cropped shot. Kelly loves his shot. Hadassah is next. Kelly and Tyra call her cropped shot “pretty.” Kelly thinks the wide shot is missing something and isn’t sexy. Tyra says she wanted more movement and variation from Hadassah. Hadassah says she was told to hold that position and Tyra tells her a good model will still figure out how to change it up.

Nyle follows. Kelly wanted to see more from him in the wide shot, to play with the idea of golfing. Devin is next. In his cropped photo, Miss J says it looks like the next Star Trek show and Kelly says it looks too weird. Kelly asks for a tight on Miss J’s face. Tyra says his film was difficult to edit and Kelly tries to give him advice. Devin interrupts to explain it’s just his bone structure so Tyra gives him some tips. Mame is last. The judges love her crop shot. Tyra likes how she’s looking at Nyle but it still looks natural in the selfie. Miss J and Tyra do praise Hadassah for rocking it in this shoot.
Tyra dismisses the models to calculate their scores. We go to…

COMMERCIALS!

ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Mame (7.9, 9, 8.7). She is joined by Mikey (8, 10, 9.2), Devin (9, 7.9, 8.7), and Nyle (8.3, 8.3, 8.3). That leaves Lacey and Hadassah in the bottom two. If Lacey goes over Hadassah, I’ll be pissed. Lacey: Interesting she’s there but it’s about scoring. Hadassah: In the bottom two but a survivor. Photo is beautiful but nothing more. So who stays? Thank god, it’s Lacey.

Tyra hugs Hadassah and says there’s a new girl there. She can model or she can go back to pageants. She thinks Hadassah will be successful. Hadassah hugs the judges and the other contestants. She wonders who Mikey will flirt with now before leaving with a twirl.

Huh, that wasn’t a very long visit to Vegas. But at least we got to see another runway challenge. We got so few and we’ll never get one again. Also, I say the rooster deserves to be America’s Next Top Model. Who’s with me?

But Hadassah is gone at last! Hurray!

Next time: Creating their own brands! Night shoot!

Quote of the Episode
“I wasn’t thinking. I mean, I was thinking. I just wasn’t thinking that hard.”—Hadassah about the twirl
