Wanna be on top?
The girls return home and Victoria moans about being in the bottom 2. She talks about how she nearly passed out and how she was stressed. Laura, meanwhile, moves back into the Tyra Suite. After the last time, she decides to stay there alone. Allyssa wants to earn her was into the Tyra Suite. She says it would mean so much to win as she’s Brazilian and has curves.
Kiara cooks some chili because she’s the house mom. Some of the girls talk about missing their mom. The girls eat Kiara’s chili with the exception of Victoria. She doesn’t eat red meat but confesses she can’t taste food without her mother. The girls are concerned, especially given Victoria’s exercise habits.

LA! Bryanboy surprises the girls and talks about being featured in Nylon Magazine. He brought along Marissa Montgomery, a designer and host for Nylon TV. She shills Nylon and talks about how it goes all over the world. Bryanboy announces the girls are going on a road trip to Palm Springs. They will have to do random acts of modeling. Tyra does it to try and remain relevant. It’s her being a model while doing everyday things. The girls will be on two RVs, stopping three times to take pictures and recording videos for Nylon TV. The winner will get to do something for Nylon TV and get money for the scholarship. Laura is called up and the girls separate. Brittany, Kristin and Allyssa form Team One while Kiara, Victoria and Nastasia form Team Two. Laura gets to chose her team and she joins team one. The girls pack and go straight on the road.
On Team 2, Kiara and the girls strategize. She thinks Victoria is fragile and wants to protect her. They stop at a Statue of Liberty replica. They take pictures and film their videos. Victoria panics because she doesn’t think she said Nylon TV in her video. She wants to refilm but Kiara shoots her down. Meanwhile, Team One arrive at an amusement park. Allyssa talks about being “awesome sized.” Only a few girls get the idea of “random acts of modeling.” They film their videos and hit the road again.
Team 2 goes to a place filled with tee-pees. Victoria struggles with Kiara. Team One stops at the Farm House, a food place. Team 2 shows up right behind them. Team One looks dressed for a casual dining place while Team Two looks like they are stopping because they don’t know if the wedding reception will have good food. The cook looks on as Kiara dabs sauce on her. Victoria says she is hungry but the food still has no taste. If you are not sick, then that’s psychological and that’s just wrong. She also overthinks her shot—“I’m shunning the healthy…” Stop explaining and take the goddamn picture, Victoria! Outside, the girls film their videos as Victoria is a bit unsure about how to film. They are done and head straight for Palm Springs. They complain about how gross they feel and then Kiara realizes her video isn’t there. Victoria swears she filmed it. We see Victoria eat as Kiara glares at her.

Kiara is still mad about her video being gone. They stop and she redoes her video. Victoria complains about Kiara keeps giving herself more takes than Victoria was allowed. Meanwhile, Team One decides to stop at the windmill farm. It’s windy and hot. Brittany loses a contact. Quick—try to it in a modelesque way. The girls finish and head back to the RV. They are grungy as well.
The girls arrive in Palm Springs where Bryanboy introduces them to Marvin Scott Jarrett, Nylon Magazine’s EIC. He says they did a great job. He says Kristin has a very Nylon look, Brittany’s photos look more like vacation photos, Allyssa looked too posed and Laura did a good job. Team 2: Nastasia has the Nylon look but didn’t quite get the idea of random acts of modeling. The same for Victoria though Kiara did well. Team One wins and Kiara is upset. And the overall winner is…Laura. She celebrates and Marvin says he looks forward to seeing her on Nylon TV. Allyssa says she’s doing well with no modeling experience so she’s doing good. Marvin gives the girls their scores and Victoria gets the lowest with a six.
They go to their rooms and Victoria complains about her score. Team One talks about Victoria and being scared. Allyssa says she’s not rolling over and letting Laura win.

Kiara says she hates losing and Victoria wants a shower. Johnny shows up and says they are doing a photo shoot. He says they are tired, dirty and stinky but they will be in situations where they are caught off guard. The girls hit make up and wardrobe. Their photographer is Douglas Friedman. The premise is that they have had a night of partying and so are supposed to be dirty. Brittany is up first, zoned out after pigging out. The photographer loved her. Laura is next with a tilted tiara. She is hunched over a toilet because she’s sick. True story: Due to pain from a no-good wisdom tooth, I was hugging my toilet around this time. That’s why the recap is so late. Johnny isn’t impressed and tries to give her some poses.
The girls eat backstage except Victoria, though she’s eyeing it. Brittany notes she lost a lot of weight while Victoria practices poses. She talks about her character losing her virginity and having to take a pregnancy test. Umm, Victoria, it won’t show up right away. You have to wait a few days. Johnny is amused though he’s not sure if it’s too much. Kristin gets to drink milk straight from the carton and gets drenched with milk. Johnny praises her resilience. Backstage, she talks about downing 5 gallons of milk. Kiara is like “Bitch, stop complaining.”
And then they throw Kiara into a dumpster. She used to go shopping in a dumpster for clothes. And she talks about her horrible life again. Johnny praises Kiara and calls her a model. Nastasia gets to go into a shower. She is directed to scrunch down and she hopes she doesn’t come across as tiny. Allyssa is last and goofs the photographer’s last name. She has to lick soda off the floor. Johnny doesn’t think she’s a high fashioned model. Douglas thinks it took a long time to find her rhythm. And then they find a cockroach so…
That’s a wrap! Meanwhile, Victoria hopes she doesn’t have to home and then flips out when she can’t find her toothbrush.

The girls return to their house and have all showered. Someone is getting eliminated tomorrow. Allyssa hopes she doesn’t go home because she has a lot to learn and offer. Laura thinks Victoria should go home. Victoria calls her mother who is like “Come home. This is ridiculous.” Kristin, who is next to use the phone to talk to her parents/boyfriend/anger management counselor, is concerned. Victoria says she misses her mom and food has no taste. The girls think she is crazy. Kristin tells Victoria it is time to end and she keeps talking as Kristin is like “GET OFF THE PHONE!”
After, Nastasia takes her outside to ask if she should go home. She says she doesn’t eat and works out too much. Victoria says it’s a stress relief. Nastasia says she has to eat. Brittany says she looks different. Victoria says she didn’t want a big scene and to be ostracized. Girl, they are actually concerned.
COMMERCIALS!
Tyra welcomes the girls to panel. There are judges—Kelly Cutrone, Rob Evans and Bryanboy. There are prizes. There is scoring. Tyra talks about how they had to take pictures while being funky. Brittany is first. Rob loves it as does Kelly and Tyra. A fan praises Brittany. Kelly gives her an 8, Rob a 9 and Tyra a 10. Kiara is next. Kelly says it gets her attention and Tyra says it looks like a crime scene. The fans aren’t too happy. Bryanboy throws some paper and makes no sense. I don’t want him to be MY voice at panel. Kelly gives an 8, Rob a 9 and Tyra a 7. Laura is next. Tyra tells her to pull back her hair. Rob calls it weak. Kelly says she’s a good girl trying to be bad. Tyra says she should have the advantage because her mother is model. Kelly gives her a 6, Rob a 6 and Tyra a 7.
Kristin follows. Kelly thinks it’s edgy. Tyra praises her for selling the clothes. Bryanboy says her scores went up. She gets 8’s across the board. Nastasia is next. Rob says she doesn’t look short, Kelly says she looks tired and stank. Kelly gives her a 9 while Rob and Tyra giver her 10’s. Allyssa is next. Rob gives her props for getting on the floor but says it looks too posed. Kelly didn’t like it as well. Nor did the fans. Tyra says she needed eye contact. Kelly gives her a 4, Rob a 5 and Tyra an 8 because it was so nasty. Kelly thinks Victoria is out of it and loves it. Rob loves it as Tyra praises it. Rob gives her a 9 and the other two give her 8’s. Bryanboy tells her to be confident and Victoria says she was just disappointed.
Tyra notes the peanut gallery and asks what’s going on. Kiara says they are concerned about her health. Kristin explains they don’t see her eat while Victoria says she can’t eat with the other girls because they ostracize her. Tyra stops Victoria and explains health is important. She says it may not be true and Victoria says it’s subjective—she’s trying to eat enough. Tyra says she’ll be watching Victoria and if something seems wrong, she will be sent home.

ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Nastasia. Really? I thought Brittany’s was better. Anyway, she is joined by Brittany, Kristin, Victoria—who is reminded Tyra will be watching her—and Kiara. That leaves Laura and Allyssa in the bottom two. At this point, sick as I was, I realized Allyssa was a goner. I think Leila was the only surprise elimination this cycle. Laura: Took a great photo last week, but a bad one this week. Allyssa: Beautiful, strong everything but is slipping. Tyra will be upset if she goes home. So who goes home? Guess Tyra is upset. Allyssa is going home. Laura says she tried hard and Tyra lets her rip up her photo.
Tyra hugs Allyssa. She was rooting for the black girl with a big butt. She says to try harder. And she might come back. Allyssa talks about her second chance and that she is proud of how far she got with no experience. She talks about being fiercely real.

Well, I guess we should’ve known Allyssa was goner from how many talking heads she had this episode. She was middle-of-the-pack but I’m surprised she still went this week. Victoria’s storyline is a bit alarming. I’m not sure if it’s an act or not. She’s over-the-top but it also hits notes of someone suffering from an eating disorder. Making excuses, feeling persecuted, insisting nothing is wrong, etc. But wouldn’t wardrobe notice something wrong? Guess we have to see how this plays out.
