OUAT: Those You’ve Known

Last time on OUAT: See my recap for Part I.

And now onto Part II!

Emma arrives at the Abandoned Mansion at the edge of town. You know, the one Belle and Gold honeymooned in back in the premiere. She meets up with Gold, who has set up the hat in the ballroom. He tells her all she has to do is walk through the doors. Emma asks him what he would do. He tells her he wouldn’t do it. But then again he’s power hungry and only looking out for himself. He’s not to be trusted. Which should be Emma’s cue to RUN AWAY.

She doesn’t.

(Seriously. Not to be trusted)

Hook shows up and is determined to stop Emma. Gold is determined to stop him. He ties Hook up to the fence and I get a very Phantom of the Opera (movie) vibe. Hook isn’t going to ruin Gold’s plans. At all. Hook looks devastated that he can’t save the woman he loves.

All together now, Captain Swan shippers: Aww.

In Arendelle, Elsa is all ready for the dinner she’s been waiting to share with Anna. Anna arrives and her sister is so excited, she starts to babble. She says the ice cream melted but she can fix it. Anna, though, remains unmoved, a simmering rage in her. Kudos to Elizabeth Lail for her work in this scene. And it only gets better.

Shattered Sight brings up Anna’s hurt over how Elsa shut her out their entire childhood. “Go away, Anna,” she parrots, over and over. Elsa tries to plead with her sister, trying to find her sweet sister again. Auntie Ingrid shows up, encouraging Elsa to destroy her sister. Anna throws her necklace into the fireplace but Elsa refuses to hurt her sister. No matter how much Auntie Ingrid shrieks in the background, Elsa holds firm. Anna opens the urn and traps her sister in it.

(dun dun DUN!)
Auntie Ingrid lets out a big “NO!” as Anna snaps out of it. She realizes what she has done and is upset. But Auntie Ingrid is angry at her instead of realizing the GIANT FLAW in her plan. No one uncorks the urn since Auntie Ingrid is still in the middle of her rampage. Kristoff hears the commotion and comes to help Anna but Auntie Ingrid freezes them. In fact, she freezes all of Arendelle. Well, we now know what happened. I guess Anna, Kristoff and Arendelle are frozen out there. And the ice hasn’t reached Anna’s heart as we heard her heartbeat through Little Bo Peep’s crook.

Regina, Henry, David and Mary Margaret are looking for Emma on foot for some odd reason. Not entirely sure why they didn’t take a car. I’m also going to assume the lack of Belle in this episode is because she’s off babysitting Baby Neal. Anyway, Regina and Mary Margaret have a heart-to-heart about Robin. Regina’s convinced it’ll never work out because of her past. And Marian. But Mary Margaret tells her to have hope. Regina wonders if someone has to pay a quarter every time they have hope.

She then gets a call. It’s from Robin, still in the library. He tells her that he found something she has to see. She tries to beg off, saying she’s trying to find Emma. But Mary Margaret assures her that they have it under control and she should go. Methinks Mary Margaret might be an Outlaw Queen shipper on deck. Regina tells Robin she’ll be right there and she heads back into town.

Elsa arrives at the mansion and rushes inside to stop Emma. She’s just in time as Emma is about to open the door. Elsa tells Emma not to do it. But Emma shows her that her powers are out of control. Henry’s love couldn’t help her. Elsa talks about when she first arrived in Storybrooke and her powers were out of control because she didn’t have Anna. But it wasn’t just Anna alone that helped her control her powers. She had to accept and love herself as well. Emma has to do the same. Elsa holds out her hand to Emma, asking her to do that.

(All together: Aww)
Emma grabs Elsa’s hands and her powers even out. She has control over them because she realizes she’s not a monster. She’s Emma and her powers are part of her. She thanks Elsa and the hat goes back into its little container.

Outside, Hook and Gold realize Emma didn’t go through with it. Hook is relieved and starts taunting Gold. But Gold doesn’t release him. He reveals that there’s one more thing he needs to rid himself of the dagger—besides a lot of powerful people in that tiny hat. He needs the heart of someone who knew him before he was the Dark One. Unfortunately, everyone is dead. Except Hook. Gold plunges his hand into Hook’s chest and pulls out his heart.

(Well, that's not good)
Hook stares at his heart and tells Gold to do it—to crush his heart. But Gold isn’t going to do that just yet. He’s going to make Hook his puppet before he kills Hook. Looks like he’s going to have to keep doing Gold’s dirty work for a little bit longer.

In Arendelle, Auntie Ingrid still hasn’t opened the urn and let Elsa out. Instead, she removes Elsa’s memories using troll magic. Rumple comes in and taunts her. He also manages to save Anna’s necklace from the fire. He also takes the urn and tells Auntie Ingrid he’ll give her her niece back when she gives him the hat back.

Inside the house, Hook is reunited with Emma. And it includes a very passionate kiss. Elsa looks anywhere but them. Emma didn’t know Hook was a big fan of her magic. He’s just a fan of her and that includes her magic. All together now, Captain Hook fans: Aww. He says her family’s on their way and sends them out. He hangs back and gathers up the hat, glaring at it for what he has to do for Gold.

(More Captain Swan kisses!)
Outside, Emma is reunited with her family. Mary Margaret and David apologize for ever making Emma feel like a monster because of her magic. She forgives them and it’s hugs all around. As Hook joins them, Emma decides to celebrate her magic by creating fireworks. It’s quite lovely.

(Ooh. Ahh)
Regina arrives at the library. Robin shows her the book and she’s like “You took it from me?” He points out that she knew he was a thief when she met him. He then explains what he found in his bag—a new page to the book. Regina looks at it and we see it is a picture of her and Robin in the tavern—kissing. She asks if it was torn out but Robin says it looks like it replaces the page with the picture of her leaving the tavern without meeting him.

(I may or may not have squeed when I saw this)
Amazed, Regina asks where he found it and wonders if there are more. She wants to search the shelf, but Robin reveals it appeared in his satchel as if by magic. He says that this shows there are many possibilities and her future is wide open. She has hope. Regina says she owes someone a quarter and then kisses him.

Outlaw Queen fans, let us have our celebratory dance break. Look at how many kisses we got tonight!

Back in Arendelle, Ingrid digs up the hatbox. The Apprentice appears in the cave, asking her why she’s giving the box to the Dark One. She explains what happened to Elsa and he reveals that the Sorcerer has found her third sister. It’ll be a while until she can get that sister, which will give her time to get Elsa back as well. She hands over the hatbox and he gives her the instructions about her new sister. She has to go through a door, leading her to New York City in 1982. Now, Ingrid just has to wait for Regina to cast the Dark Curse.

(Is this about to turn into a farce?)
In Storybrooke, Gold’s magical force field fades away and Ingrid is free to move again. She learns Emma still has her magic. It’s time for her plan to go into action: She shatters her mirror.

(Here it comes!)
Uh oh.

Things are getting really, really interesting now. Who knows what the Shattered Sight curse will do to Storybrooke? I know I’m excited!

I’m also curious about what the new page means for Outlaw Queen. There are a lot of good theories on tumblr, most of them believing that Regina and Robin had a relationship but were forced to forget it. I hope we learn what the page means soon.

Next time: Storybrooke prepares for Shattered Sight.
