At the loft, Conor goes to wake the guys up and offer to cook breakfast. Tom says that since Jo’s left, they’ve reached a truce. Everyone leaves and heads to the lab. McKenzie welcomes them to their foundation challenge. She says they are at a scene of a crime. They have to create the crime. Anthony tells us that everyone has their own recipe for blood. McKenzie welcomes Bob Jakcus, a former NYPD detective and now a private investigator. He says it has to look real, which Tom backs up. Megan says this challenge is gross and disgusting…and she loves it. Gage uses corn starch and laundry detergent. Tom’s test is his grandfather, who allows could detect fake blood from his days as a cop. Anthony says Megan’s fake blood smells like Elizabeth, NJ. And as someone who lives across the river from Elizabeth, I can tell you that’s BAD.
As McKenzie calls time, she then instructs the contestants to spatter their blood on the glass, board and t-shirt. Bob likes Tate’s tissue. He says Anthony’s gunshot wound is a bit small. Bob likes Tom’s spattering, saying less is best. Bob says bleeding out depends on gravity and that Gage’s is more than normal. Bob likes Megan’s blood puddle but her blood looked too watery.
Bob liked Tate’s blood and Tom’s spattering. The winner is Tom. Everyone applauds. He repeats his “less is best” advice. Tom’s won an advantage in the spotlight challenge. Which is: ZOMBIES! Everyone says “YES!” They will have to create their own zombie with high stakes. Two people will be eliminated this week. Tom, as a winner, gets to pick his model first. He takes Bryce. McKenzie starts the clock and everyone races off.
Conor wants to do a classic 80’s zombie. Tom wants a shark attack zombie. Anthony decides to do a zombie hooker. Megan decides to do Beverly Hills Zombie. Gage is doing WWII vet zombie. Sam decides to do a fat zombie. Everyone begins sculpting that day and they speed up the footage. McKenzie comes back again. She says that sometimes a director will change a scene at the last minute and says this one of those cases. Tense looks as we go to…

McKenzie tells them that their models are all dancers, who will be doing a choreographed dance on the stage. Tom tries to make the change something positive but can’t. Tate has to rethink his as well. Everyone was going to go with either gelatin or silicone but now had to change to foam the help the dancers. Anthony comes over to see Tate’s face and is impressed with how scary it looks. Anthony says the change didn’t really affect him at all. Megan works on the body as she wants to focus on the face tomorrow, assigning it a higher priority. Tate thinks that Conor’s is typical and won’t get creativity points.
Day 2! Megan breaks out Grey’s Anatomy—the book, not the show—to get the muscles correct. McKenzie and Patrick come over to expect their progress. Patrick says they have a mix of traditional and original designs. They leave to give the artists time to work. Megan is really scared that this week may be her week to go home.

Day 3: Everyone returns for application day. The models arrive to be fitted into their zombie gear. Tate’s model says he owes her a drink as Sam puts her model into a fat suit. Tate says that he’s going to focus on painting as the judges have criticized him. Tom is glad for his wrinkles as Anthony runs around, trying to finish it. Conor thinks he’s concerned with how much blood Megan is using. The clock reaches zero as the cameraman can’t resist capturing a zombie enjoying a snack.
They arrive backstage to do their final touchups. Everyone is really nervous as Megan thinks she over did the blood.
McKenzie welcomes them to the Reveal Stage. She introduces the judges: Glenn, Ve, Patrick, and the guest judge is Greg Nicotero, who has worked on the Walking Dead. Megan is freaking out in a fangirl way. First, we see the zombies. Gage is first and looks ready to eat some Nazi brains. Conor’s zombie is next and looks pretty traditional. Anthony’s zombie hooker is still working her corner. Tom’s zombie looks pretty traditional as well. Sam’s zombie would like to know if you want brains with that. Megan’s zombie is a bit bloodier than your usual zombie. Tate’s is…well…where’s my bucket?
So, someone cue up “Thriller”…oh, never mind, it’s “Zombie.”
Coming Up: The dance and judges comments.
The zombies start dancing. It looks like Joy’s head piece came off during that. The judges applaud and Tom’s impressed that nothing ended on the floor. So, the judges get their close up looks. Ve notes Tom’s tire tread as Sam worries about her model’s arms.
Tom is first. Glenn likes the asymmetry and isn’t thrilled with the skin. Ve says it looks boring and Greg agrees with Glenn about the skin. Tate is next. Glenn says to never put something over the mouth and Tate worries that he’s going to go home.

In the end, Glenn respects Tate’s decision and loves his zombie. Ve loved her entrance. Everyone loved his zombie. Sam is next. Everyone liked hers. Gage follows and Greg likes the shrapnel. Glenn’s concern is the colors. But they like it. Megan is next. Patrick loves her concept though Ve thought she went overboard with the blood. Anthony steps forward. Ve isn’t thrilled with his zombie. Patrick likes the concept and Greg can’t separate clothing from skin. Conor is next and Greg says that he’d shoot that zombie for any movie. Ve loves the detail he added. Patrick didn’t like the concept, saying it wasn’t very original.
The top two looks are Conor and Tate. The winner is Tate. Everyone applauds and Tate goes to shake the judges’ hands. He even gives McKenzie a high five. So Tate can confer with the judges as everyone is sent backstage. Ve congratulates him before asking for the worst two. Tate says it isn’t easy and nominates Megan, saying she hasn’t done anything to define her creatively. He declines to nominate a second person and is sent backstage. They fell Anthony may have gone as far as he could’ve gone. They like Megan’s idea but not the execution. Tom’s wasn’t very unique. They’ve reached a decision.
ELIMINATION! Anthony: Sculpture and coloring mistakes. Tom: Concept was his weak point. Megan: The blood did her in. The first person going home is: Anthony. Anthony thanks the judges and heads backstage to pack up. Gage gives him a big hug as does Tate. Back in the studio, one more person is left to be eliminated. And that person is…
Going to be revealed after these COMMERCIALS!
And the second person eliminated this week is…Tom. I honestly didn’t know who to pick there. I was hovering over the “T” and “M” keys. He congratulates Megan and tells the judges they’ll see him again. He goes backstage and everyone is surprised to see he is going home. He says there are moments on the show he never wants to forget. Anthony says he had fun and that’s what life is about.
Face-Off
Tate
Conor
Jo
Gage
Megan
Sam
Aren’t zombies always great? While Megan is still one of my favorites, I was almost certain she’d be going home. Things are getting tougher and we’re nearing the end. I’m still rooting for Conor and Megan, though I can’t help but root for Tate as well.
Next week: Their models are…themselves.
Quote of the Episode:
“I need a wardrobe change. I just crapped my pants”—Tate after the change
