ANTM: Personality is Key

Last time on “ANTM:” The models landed in Seoul! Adam began drinking on the plane and didn’t stop. After Raelia won a dance challenge, the models checked out their new digs. They shot a campaign for MCM where Adam struggled, Chantelle made enemies and Keith had a breakthrough. In panel, Keith rose to the top while Chantelle and Raelia fell into the bottom two. To the models’ dismay, Chantelle got to stay while Raelia was eliminated. Six models remain, who will be eliminated tonight? Find out!

Wanna be on top?

The remaining models go back to their suite to see Keith’s best photo. He’s glad he has something to fall back on instead of football. Adam is reeling from being inebriated at panel. He vows to cut back—only beer from now. Will says he’s worried and doesn’t know if Adam is sober or not.

While Chantelle flirts with Keith, Will mourns Raelia’s elimination with Lenox and Shei. They can’t believe Chantelle is still here. She tries to cheer up Shei but Shei talks to her about coming off as rude. She mentions watching Chantelle change her makeup. Chantelle keeps denying it and Lennox says she witnessed it. Chantelle tells her to keep her attitude in check, which is rich coming from her. When Lennox gets fed up, she walks off. Chantelle tells her not to talk to her the entire time she’s there. In confessional, Chantelle says she’s not holding back tears, she’s holding back the urge to beat “a bitch down.”

CREDITS!

In Seoul, everyone goes to MCM’s store. Kelly welcomes them to their go-sees. Everyone is excited. K-Pop star Jay Park and jewelry designer Ben Baller are there as well. Ben tells the models about Seoul’s fashion scene: all the top designers are there. The challenge winner gets swag while the top guy and girl get to walk on a runway show. They get to be paired:

Will and Shei
Adam and Lenox
Keith and Chantelle

Kelly tells them they have four hours and they have to be back on time. GO!

Will and Shei decide to go the furthest away and then go in reverse. Adam and Lenox have the same plan though Adam doesn’t want to wait. Keith decides to go there too until he sees Will and Shei. And then Adam and Lenox. So Keith changes. The designer at Resurrection doesn’t understand Tyra’s makeover for Shei. And the clothes won’t really fit Will.

Keith and Chantelle go to Jinny Kim first. Chantelle struggles to model the shoes. Jinny Kim was not impressed with Chantelle but she liked Keith. Keith’s not sure what his feelings for Chantelle are. Back at Resurrection, Lenox impresses. Adam, not so much.

Keith works on his Korean to impress designers. Jinny Kim isn’t impressed with Will either. Lenox worries about the time. Keith wins for quoting “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Keith keeps impressing while Chantelle is struggling. The best I’ve heard about her is that a designer will have to think about it. Meanwhile, Will’s getting discouraged because he’s too tall for Korea.

SEOUL! Lenox and Adam arrived at Jinny Kim. Lenox seems to impress the designer while Adam struggles sober. Jinny thinks he’s too serious. Will continues to struggle as does Chantelle. Shei and Will make it back first. Mac and Logan love Lenox and Adam. But they worry they might be disqualified. Chantelle and Keith get there while Adam and Lenox make it in the nick of time. Is that a first? Everyone making it back on time?

Kelly welcomes them to Sun Jung Lee, Editor-in-Chief of Nylon Korea. Shei booked two shows. Some thought she was too edgy while the others loved her. Will books zero. Kelly tells him to make himself loveable in order to make people want to work with him. Chantelle booked one show. Many thought she didn’t fit their brand. Chantelle assumes its her skin. Lenox booked four shows while Adam booked 1. Kelly was surprised everyone thought he was too serious. Keith booked 4 shows because he was charming and the designers wanted to work with him. Keith wins because he went to all five go-sees. He gets the clothes. Wait, who booked Mac and Logan? Lenox and Keith, I guess?

At the house, Will is on the bottom with a six. He says the pressure is on. Chantelle is also disappointed in her scores. Adam starts drinking again. Keith says he shouldn’t drink more than contestants left. So he and Will talk to him. Adam says it helps loosen him up. Will tells him to work on being charming and fun without the alcohol. Adam says he’s taking it very seriously.

SEOUL! Yu Tsai welcomes the models. He talks about Korea’s ancient culture. Jinny Kim is the client today. Erik Asla is back. Is he just going to be the photographer until the end now? Anyway, they get to work with two Korean models. The model with best photo will have their ad used and get shoes!

In hair and makeup, the hair stylist asks Chantelle how she’s going to handle it if Yu Tsai calls her “panda.” She says she has to talk to him. This could fun.

Adam goes first, working with Jini Lee. As Adam poses, Tyra pops up to help them. She gives him some advice. Tyra seems to be impressed by Adam. Yu Tsai just wants more expressions. Keith is next with Jini. Keith talks about his angles, trying to show off the shoes. Tyra and Yu Tsai are impressed. Keith finally figures out how to work.

Shei is next and she works with James Joo Hyun Lee of The Royal Pirates. We zoom past hers to Lenox’s shoot. Tyra shows her some moves. Yu Tsai isn’t impressed. Meanwhile, Will is squeezed into small shoes. Will has to get affectionate with Jini. Once Will brings a stronger face it works. Yu Tsai and Tyra go nuts.

Chantelle is next. Yu Tsai gives her some hints to modeling shoes and Tyra tells her to let go of her control. Yu Tsai isn’t impressed—she doesn’t know how to connect with the light and camera. Tyra makes her do hair whips. She’s the last.

Time for Chantelle and Yu Tsai’s talk about “panda.” Chantelle says it doesn’t bother her but it could bother other kids. Yu Tsai says it’s difficult to talk to Chantelle. She keeps arguing while Yu Tsai tells her it’s to softening to her up.

COMMERCIALS!

Yu Tsai comes back to tell her about pandas. He tells her that she rubs him the wrong way. He tells her that he’ll stop calling her panda because he understand where she’s coming from. She needs to change her attitude.

At the house, Shei and Will reveal that Chantelle admitted to having sex (I guess) with Keith. He denies that and says he’s going to talk to her. Keith tells Chantelle that she can’t sleep in the same bed as them. He asks her what she gains from lying about their relationship. Chantelle says that it’s hilarious. She says that hurts that Shei spilled the beans. She says it hurts that someone broke her confidence. What about the fact that she lied? She’s playing the victim when she did something wrong. Chantelle walks out and they try to coax her back into the suite. Chantelle says she can’t hold back her anger and will stay in the hallway. She cries out there.

Will says no one attacked her. Keith hits in on the head when he says she crossed a line and is embarrassed that the truth is out there.

CREDITS!

Tyra welcomes the models. There are judges: Kelly and Ms. J. He is representing the 2000s. There are prizes! Keith is first. He is acknowledged as the challenge winner. Kelly and Ms. J make fun of Jini’s pose while Tyra praises him on set. Keith says he used the notes he got last week. Social media loves him. Scores: 9, 10, 9. He impresses the judges by thanking them in Korean. Lenox is next. Ms. J is not impressed. Kelly likes it but says it doesn’t captivate it. Tyra says she showing off the shoes. Scores: 8, 10, 8. Adam is next. Ms. J says he looks like a piece of Bazooka gum. Kelly likes how he carries the macho with a vespa. Adam tries to thank them in Korea and Tyra says it’s better to try and fail then not try. Scores: 7, 9, 8.

Shei is next. Ms. J loves the tooch and how she’s twisted. Kelly loves her shot. Tyra gives her a some tricks so that her head doesn’t look small. Scores: 7, 8, 9. Chantelle follows. Kelly likes the dress and shoes. She’s not sold on the face. Ms. J says it looks like Chantelle is just there. Tyra talks about how she was stiff. Tyra likes the hair. Scores: 7, 8, 6. Will is last in his heels. He admits he was too tall for Korea. Kelly is not in love with Will’s shot. Ms. J seems meh on it. But Tyra loves it. Scores: 8, 10, 8.

Tyra dismisses the models to add the scores together. We go to…

COMMERCIALS!

ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Keith. He is joined by: Lenox, Will and Shei. That leaves Chantelle and Adam in the bottom two. I think everyone would put up with Adam’s drinking than Chantelle’s attitude. Adam pretends he still smells of alcohol but reveals he’s joking. That he curtailed his partying after last week’s panel. Chantelle: Too controlled. Adam: Too stiff. So who stays? Adam. He hugs Chantelle before joining the others.

Tyra says that Chantelle is beautiful and she came back. She tells her to take everything she learned and apply it to her career. They hug before Chantelle wishes them luck before leaving. I don’t think she hugs them again but I don’t think anyone wanted to hug them. She says she’ll try to loosen up as she works to achieve her dream.

America’s Next Top Model:
Adam
Ben
Chantelle
Denzel
Ivy
Kari
Keith
Lenox
Matthew
Mirjana
Raelia
Romeo
Shei
Will

I’d like to say that was a surprise, but it’s not. No one in the house liked her—except Keith and she burnt that bridge spectacularly. Everyone was noting her attitude and she kept brushing it off. And she was always too stiff on photoshoots.

Things are getting interesting. I’m wondering if Keith’s getting the “came from behind to win” edit or if Will’s getting “hits a bump but perseveres to win” edit. Because I do believe a guy is going to win this cycle. And it’s going to be one of those two.

Next week: Soap opera! Elvis?

Quote of the Episode
“I’ll call you porcupine from now on.”—Yu Tsai to Chantelle
