Find out!
The final five return to their LA home and admire Mame’s picture. She heads up to the Tyra Suite for her TyTyTip. Tyra tells her that she often wants more from Mame and notes that she has a very commanding presence. Tyra wants her to use that in her next photoshoot.
The five are amazed to realize it’s just them and Mikey says that he was the first person in his family to graduate high school and the first man not to end up in prison. He says he feels like he’s the last one with the chance to do anything great and the fact he made it this far reinforces that. Mame says it feels like they are on some island and have to rely on each other.
We then cut back to last panel, or more accurately, what happened after it. Tyra tells the remaining five that she sees entrepreneurs when she looks at them. She says modeling can only pay the bills for so long. They have to come up with an idea that they can market. Good luck, models.
The next day, Devin welcomes Kelly to their house. Lacey notes that there’s a lot of things in their living room—from markers to jewelry to t-shirts—and Kelly says that they should have an idea to pitch to her, Tyra and a bunch of other successful people. Kelly says they’ll have to use their phone to create a visual presentation and the winner will get $2500 toward launching their company. Everyone is impressed but that doesn’t seem like much, does it? Or is it just me? Anyway, Kelly lets them loose to make their presentations.
Mame is excited to present for the judges and everyone works hard on their presentations. Well, Mikey doesn’t think Devin is. He just sees him eating potato chips while everyone else works. We relive Mikey and Devin’s fight from last week and Mikey says Devin isn’t his problem anymore. It’s all about him.
Wanna be on top?
When we come back, Tyra introduces the judging panel for this challenge. There’s Kelly Cutrone, Alli Webb (CEO of Dry Bar), and Marie-Pier St. Hilarie (CEO AFI Expertise). It seems like a good panel. So let’s see what the models have put together. Mikey goes first, ready to charm the panel. He has Tocks—tank tops and socks. Tyra likes his photo and Mikey says he has talented artist friends who he would like to use. He wants to make sure his clothing is affordable. Kelly says the presentation is authentic and the product reflects Mikey. He says he was influenced by Zappos and said he took ideas from Tony’s book. And I do believe he’s read it. Or is reading it. Tyra says she’s proud of him.
Devin is next with his perfume line, Emotions. He lets them have test sniff and Marie-Pier notes that it’s strong. Kelly thinks they all smell the same. Devin realizes he has to bring his “A-Game.” Devin has them rolling in the aisles, but is that a good thing? Tyra says he was really quirky but his perfume had nothing to do with him. Alli says creating fragrances can be challenging and you have to try to stand out. He returns to the room, all down-heartened which surprises the others. Except Nyle, who figured he would fail because he had no plan.
Lacey presents her book idea—Small Town Girl Surviving the Real World. Tyra gives her some writing tips, saying that people care about her now. So she needs to grab them and then go back to the beginning of her story. Kelly asks how she would market her book. I’m thinking social media—create a blog, Twitter, maybe a few web videos. Lacey thinks coffee shops in her hometown. Kelly says that’s setting the bar low. She does like Lacey’s use of pictures.
Nyle is “Sign That!” It’s several videos where he would teach people how to sign things, complete with demonstrations for “chillax” and “dope money.” Alli thinks it’s a great idea and something that people will want. Marie-Pier thinks Nyle would be a great face because he’s fine. Kelly asks about how much money he thinks he would need and says his projection is too low. Marie-Pier agrees.
Mame comes out, saying she’s nervous and intimidated. But she says she has no choice but to kill it. She’s so nervous though she starts tripping over her words. It’s okay to step back and take a breath, try again. She flounders as we head to…

Mame finishes her pitch as Kelly asks if she’s done. Tyra notes she’s the most nervous out of everyone who came out and asks why. Mame says it’s something she’s worked on as Miss Maryland USA and Tyra is still not sure why she was so nervous. Alli says she was confused. She tells her to narrow down the focus. Kelly says she also was building a brand around women but didn’t connect with a panel of women.
The models reconvene in front of Tyra. She says each other their products had something that could make them work. But the winner is Mikey. Oh, I was rooting for Nyle. Mikey signs his name to the check as Tyra explains that they were most impressed with him and his idea. Mikey says this will be a great opportunity for himself and his family. He says it’s blowing his mind.
Tyra tells the models to pack warm because they are going on a camping trip for their next photoshoot. She says they will be doing it overnight and it will be fun. Devin doesn’t look like he agrees.
As everyone grips about camping, they are distracted by the challenge scores. Lacey is surprised she got a nine after her presentation. Devin has a six with Mame sitting above him with a seven. Mame says she’s going to bring it 10x harder.
The model mobile takes them to meet Yu Tsai. He welcomes them as the final five. And it just hit me that they are really the final five. This is the last cycle. There will be no more finalists. Aww,you guys. I just made myself both happy and sad. Anyway, Yu Tsai tells them that they are doing “Night Creatures” and turning fear into fashion. He then tells them that they are staying in the creepy cabin behind him.
It’s still better than a tent, if you ask me.
Mikey flirts with Mikey while they try to get Nyle and Lacey to flirt. Apparently Sexy n Sassy are still an item, though they haven’t done anything beyond cuddle. Mikey and Mame agree to cuddle in the cabin. To stay warm, you know.
First, Yu Tsai takes the models camping and lets them make smores. Apparently, he used to be a biologist and he misses camping out in the fields. He says he loves to be in nature. He asks if they talked with the ranchers about the area. They say no. Yu Tsai tells them that people stopped coming here because people were disappearing and their remains were found days later. But they never caught who did it. He then tells them they’ll be taking their pictures in the dark.
Good luck, guys.
COMMERCIALS!
Nyle doesn’t think it’s a big deal to be posing at night. His eye sight is better than most people’s at night. Of course, the photographer is Erik Asla. The models are dismissed to hair and make up. Yu Tsai introduces them to Francis Librian, who designed the looks they are modeling.
Lacey goes first. Once she assures Yu Tsai she’s comfortable and confident, he turns the lights off and we go into the night vision camera mode. Yu Tsai this will test their ability to know their space. He says they have to hit strong poses each time because they won’t know how they look. Lacey has hit “not even” she says and Yu Tsai says she looks more like a statue than a model. Mame says it’s nice to see Lacey get poor feedback.
Devin is next and Yu Tsai directs him to Erik’s direction. He tells Devin not to fall while Erik tells him to only move side to side. Devin hits some poses before something falls. Yu Tsai has them turn on the lights again while Devin seems startled off his box. They reset and Devin keeps going. Yu Tsai says he gets so focused, he gets lost and Nyle thinks Devin hasn’t learned anything.
Mikey is still hoping something will happen with Mame but he gets up on the box. He says everyone is doing well so he’s just going to focus on himself. Yu Tsai says his last five frames were very impressive.
Nyle is next and Yu Tsai has to readjust since he can’t rely on audio cues. Yu Tsai thinks he’s struggling and Nyle admits to being blinded by the flashes from Erik’s camera. Nyle and Yu Tsai struggle to find something that works for him. He says he can’t afford to screw this up when he’s in the top 5.

Lacey is worried about Nyle and feels bad for him. Mame is up next and DEvin talks about her low challenge score with Mikey. But Yu Tsai is there and overhears it. I’m not sure if he hears Devin’s prayers for Mame to mess things up but Yu Tsai does bring up the low scores to Mame. She knows she has to kill it…and appears to do so. Yu Tsai praises her and then calls a night.
That’s a wrap!
Mame says she did great and tells Mikey so did he. Mikey helps her up as she says she is cold. Mikey says that he knows Mame likes Justin but thinks she wants him as well. Mame just wants some rest.
But there are no blankets. Nyle and Lacey are already down for some cuddling. And Mame demands that Mikey come sleep in the corner with her. Lacey is confused as Mame told her she was official with Justin but now she’s cuddling with Mikey. Mame says Mikey is just irresistible. But she insists they are just cuddling for warmth.
The other models do not buy it.
Come the morning, Devin sprints out of the cabin. Mame says nothing happened last night but she does feel guilty. She misses Justin and insists Mikey is not the one. Mikey echoes that they were just cuddling for warmth and then has a message for future Mame—if she’s watching with Justin, he tells her to run.
COMMERCIALS!
Tyra welcomes the models to panel. There are prizes. And there are judges—J. Alexander and Kelly Cutrone. Lacey is up first. Kelly loves how her dress looks. When she compares it to flamenco, Miss J starts dancing in his seat. Tyra likes Lacey’s face but not her arm. Mame is next and she says it was challenging to model in the dark. Kelly says she loves Maleficent and she loves Mame. She just wanted Mame’s eyes to be bigger. Tyra notes that sometimes photographers take tester pictures to check the lighting. She notes that Mame’s shot is a tester and that it shows that models always have to be on. She hopes the others note that.
Nyle is next and is honest that it went horribly. He said it was difficult to find something that worked for him. Tyra says he needed a little more dance in his pose and Kelly says he should’ve gone for Elvis Vampire. Kelly says it’s good but not his best shot. Nyle agrees. Mikey follows and Tyra calls it powerful. She says his film this time was the first time he was intense in every shot. Kelly thinks it might be too intense but Tyra thinks it works. Ms. J likes it and Tyra praises him for pushing himself.
Devin is last. Ms. J thinks he has done better and can do better. Kelly agrees. Tyra likes it and that he relaxed his face. Kelly doesn’t know how she would use the shot. Tyra praises him for listening to the critique. Devin says he is trying to learn but mentions that people like to book him because he’s quirky. Kelly asks him why he keeps talking about his bookings and if he has such a great career, why is he there? They talk over each other until Tyra dismisses him.
Tyra then dismisses the models as we go to…
COMMERCIALS!
ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Mikey! (Scores went too fast for me to see). He is joined by Mame and Lacey (7.9, 8.8, 8.2). That leaves Devin and Nyle in the bottom two. Not my Nyle! Devin: Frustrates the judges. Has such fierceness and strength that might be too niche. But he took notes so well. Nyle: Has been up there, doing well. But Nyle is slipping while models are rising to the top. So who stays? Nyle! Thanks goodness!
Sorry, Devin.
Tyra tells Nyle that the competition is getting tight and he needs to be amazing in everything he does. She then hugs Devin and tells him it was too little, too late. He cries in his final interview and he says that he proved to everyone he’s just not the quirky one. He says it’s been wild.
America’s Next Top Model:
Mame
Mikey
Nyle
I’m worried about Sexy N’ Sassy, everyone. But more so Lacey. I feel like she’s getting the shining star who plateaued and struggled edit. Nyle might still get the shining star who struggled but overcame edit because I have feeling we might be heading toward a Nyle/Mikey face off, with Mame a possible upset winner.
Next week: Nylon! Lacey struggles!
