Wanna be on top?
Jamaica! All the girls walk along the water’s edge. Kiara says the competition is intense. She says modeling is her dream. Must we get recaps of all the girls’ bad critiques? And their confrontations. What? The? Hell?
Anyway, Leila goes home to see her photo in the house. She tries to pretend she’s sad Kristin went home…for a nanosecond. Leila says she’d hang her picture up in her own house. Kiara agrees. Meanwhile, Laura is just glad she didn’t go home. We hear more about Nastasia. In the second to last episode. Anyway, Leila and Kiara go to the Tyra Suite. Leila wants to win as the “Comeback Girl” while Kiara wants to win for her grandmother.
Downstairs, Laura talks to her mother about the stress. Her mother gives her a pep talk and Laura breaks down. She misses her mom, though not on the Victoria level. Her mother is really supportive.
CREDITS!
The girls go to the stables and we learn Laura grew up with horses. Kiara is like “Laura has acres of land?” Rob Evans introduces the girls to Yendi Phillips, Miss Jamaica World and Universe. She welcomes the girls and talks up Jamaica as a tourist spot. The girls will be auditioning to be in a commercial for Jamaica. They will write their own script then deliver their lines on horseback, in the ocean. Laura is like “YES!” Yendi gives them 30 minutes. Leila is worried the horse will react badly after the dolphin attacked her last week. Yendi says the winner will shot a campaign and scholarship money.
The girls run off to write their own scripts. Kiara says she knows public speaking. Laura wants to prove she isn’t riding on her parents’ coattails. She worked as a teenager!
Time to bring out the horses! The girls practice their scripts in the surf. Laura is up first. She bungles on of her lines but she starts off well. Yendi notes she wanted to cry. She tries again. And she nails it this time. Leila is next and is nervous on the horse. She wants to nail the challenge. As she delivers her line, her horse thinks its Mr. Ed. And then Leila freaks out as we head to…

We return to Leila’s freak out. Yendi calms her down better than Rob, who is like “Are you an idiot?” He says she suffers from confidence issues. I think it’s a fear of animals, Rob. Especially as she nails her next take. Yendi likes her inclusion of learning dance hall dancing on the streets. Nastasia gets on the horse and blanks out. She gets the first line out and the horse is like “I want to be a star, Ricky!” Nastasia speeds through her next take. Kiara is last. She goofs the first take and the horse goes into a run, like “I’m ready for my close up, Mr. deMille!” Rob curses out to show what Kiara was doing. Time for her take 2. She does better in that one.
Time for results. Kiara and Laura were the top two. And the winner is…Kiara. She does the happy dance as she gets a campaign for Jamaica. Yendi praises the other ladies and they clap it out. Laura is like “So, close.” You think you were so close? The horse is still crying in his stall about his missed opportunity.
At home, the girls check their standings. Leila and Nastasia both have 6’s while Laura got an 8 and Kiara a 9. Nastasia is frustrated and sad. She says getting a bad score is not an option. Kiara gives Leila a pep talk and tells her to stay positive.

TYRA MAIL! OH NO, P’TRIQUE! “The End is near. I can almost smell it. Make sure to bring your A game to the next shoot because dreams do come true. They really do.”
Oh, Dream Come True. ANTM’s fragrance. The girls are nervous. Especially Nastasia.
The next day, Johnny greets the ladies on the beach. The photographer is Jez Smith, one of the judges on Australia’s Next Top Model once upon a time. The girls hit hair and makeup. Kiara notes this is a real photo, not just something for their portfolio. Anyway, Ben Bennett comes in as the client. He gives them some advice and wishes them luck.
Nastasia runs out. Ben tells her to be youthful and tell a story of a dream coming true. Leila watches Nastasia shoot. Ben reminds her to be happy. Jez praises Nastasia’s look but doesn’t know if they got the “perfect” shot. Leila goes next and she’s nervous. Laura thinks Leila isn’t commercial. Johnny and Ben think she looks sad. Leila is worried she let herself get in her head. She feels the same as the day she went home and is scared.

We return to Leila’s shoot. Ben says it took awhile to warm her up. Jez asks what she’s thinking about it. And she knows the right answer: “I need to think about something else.” She does and finally looks happy. Jez praises her last few frames.
Bryanboy pops in to talk to the girls. Kiara uses it as a therapy session about how her mother doesn’t support her, how nothing goes right for, and winning would be a dream come true. Leila comforts her as Kiara cries. She then hits the water to take her photos. Laura says she deserves it just like Kiara even though she had a good childhood. Kiara seems to nail the shoot. Laura is next. She says winning ANTM has been a dream since she was a girl. And…it checks out. Show’s about a decade old. Anyway, Ben doesn’t like Laura’s poses. “Too sexy” is repeated. Johnny says Laura should be nervous and Ben tells her he doesn’t think any of her shots work for him.
That’s a wrap!
Skull mail! Someone’s getting eliminated. Can it be P’Trique? Does anyone like him? Anyone? The girls feel the pressure of elimination. Leila and Laura want to stay. They talk about scores and we even see Leila packing. Nastasia says she prays every night and asks God to win. Kiara says it’s the fourth quarter of the game. And she hopes to win.
COMMERCIALS!
A producer comes to get the girls for panel. Tyra welcomes them. There are judges—Kelly Cutrone, Rob Evans, and Bryanboy. There are prizes. There is scoring. Leila is up first. They talk about her challenge. She says it didn’t feel like a 6 but that’s what she got. And talks about getting spooked by the horse. Tyra reveals her best shot. Kelly thinks it’s too sexy for the customer. Maybe better for Calvin. Rob though thinks it’s perfect for the campaign. He thinks teens will like it and Kelly is like “I don’t want my teen girl looking like this.” Tyra thinks it appeals to the teen girls in the audience. One fan tells her to remember her neck. Kelly and Tyra give her 8’s and Rob gives her a 9. Kiara is next and applauded for winning the challenge. Rob likes the shot. Kelly thinks it looks like a wishing well pose and not “my dream has come true.” Bryanboy says the viewers loved her and he was surprised about her doubts. She said it wasn’t doubt but the desire to win. She says this would be her dream come true. Tyra loves her shot and her film. Rob gives her a 9, Kelly a 7 and Tyra a 8. Kelly threatens Bryanboy and Tyra doesn’t think it’s an ad.
Nastasia is next and talks about blanking out. Tyra asks how she was going to remember someone else’s script on day. Bryanboy thinks she nailed the shot but the viewers disagreed. He plays a video from a guy who looks pretty than me. Damn. Kelly praises Nastasia for being on brief while Rob thinks she’s too cutesy. Tyra says their demographics is 18 to 34. Nastasia’s photo, to her, looks like an ad for 10 to 16. Kelly gives her a 9, Tyra an 8 and Rob a 7. Last up is Laura. Rob thinks it’s too sexy and Calvin Klein. He says it doesn’t hit the target audience. Kelly thinks it’s for a soap opera not perfume. Bryanboy says she has a mixed bag of comments. Tyra tells her she is so much better than that shot. She thinks she rested on a stereotype of a model. Kelly and Tyra give her 7’s and Rob an 8. Tyra dismisses the girls.
COMMERCIALS!
ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Kiara. She is joined by Leila. That leaves Nastasia and Laura in the bottom two. Stop running the cycle 20 casting announcement during elimination! Anyway, the photo in Tyra’s hand is for the girl who will join Kiara and Leila in the final fashion show. The girls are neck-and-neck. Who competes? Laura. She takes her photo and Tyra congratulates her.
Tyra shows Nastasia it was a point 3 difference. It came down to the challenge score. Tyra tells her to be almost perfect, because perfect is boring. She hugs Nastasia, who then says goodbye to our finalists. She says she’s proud of herself and is happy to make this far. She thanks God for the experience.
America’s Next Top Model:
Leila**
*Contestant quit competition
**Contestant re-entered competition
Huh. I thought Nastasia was the dark horse contestant who would make it to the finale and maybe even second place. But our final 3 is set. I’m sad our finale is next week and happy that the craziness that was this is cycle is almost over. Who do you think will win? Vote in my poll!
Next week: It’s the finale, y’all! Someone’s gonna be America’s Next Top Model. But only after Kelly fights with someone.
Quote of the Episode
