Hate on Me…

Last time on “The Glee Project”: It was time for duets! Marissa won the homework challenge and got to pick her partner. She chose Samuel and the two sang “Don’t You Want Me, Baby”. Damian and Matheus teamed up for “Lady is a Tramp” while Alex donned drag to sing “Nowadays” with Hannah. After Marissa kisses Samuel in their video, Lindsay plants one on Cameron during “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” He calls mom after freaking out but it’s Matheus who goes home. Seven Gleekabes remain, who sings their way home tonight? Find out!

Glee!

The Gleekabes walk to see that their song is “Bulletproof” for “Tenacity” this week. Cameron feels shaken up from last week while Hannah thinks this is going to be her week. The remaining seven practice the song but that they don’t know what it means. And we find out that Lindsay is adopted as she talks about not knowing where she fits in.

Time to meet this week’s guest judge. And it’s Max Adler AKA “Dave Karofsky” from the show. He talks about being rejected as an actor. Robert says Max was cast for two lines and now he’s on the show. The Gleekabes sing. Dear Alex, Tenacity =/= Sassy. Max makes them stop singing. He tells them to give it everything they’ve got and surprise him. So we start over. Dear Alex, See above message. Love, Me.

Dear Gleekabes, Let’s try singing the song in tune. Love, Me.

Anyway, Max tells Damian that he’s awesome but he needs to remain focused even when others are performing. He loves Samuel’s focus as Samuel confesses he is tenacity and he wants to win this challenge. Max loves Lindsay’s and Marissa’s voices. Max chooses Marissa as the winner though. Yay! Cameron and Samuel are pissed off. Cameron whines that he hasn’t won anything in confessional. Neither has Damian, Hannah or Lindsay. Max reveals their video is a mash up of David Bowie/Queen’s “Under Pressure” and Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.” And they will be slusheed during the song. He tells them that they cannot break character and have to keep pushing through. Alex is not thrilled.

Brooke handles the choreography as Zach is working with the Glee cast on set. Brooke teaches the Gleekabes the choreography while Samuel confesses he has checked out due to disappointment. Hannah struggles with the choreography. But she continues to work at it as Brooke leaves. Damian praises her. But Alex doesn’t work—he remains standing.

They then dive into the recording booth with Nikki. Samuel goes first. He confesses that he thinks she’s judging him. She is a judge, duh. Nikki isn’t feeling Samuel’s part as we cut to Marissa’s session. Marissa has more parts and admits she didn’t practice one part, causing Nikki to shake her head.

Coming Up: Pressure!

Hannah comes in to record with her crazy sunglasses. They tried to do it in one take, but her tongue keeps twisting. Hannah isn’t happy with her take. Anyway, time for the video shoot! Damian and Cameron are becoming good friends and talk as Eric comes on. Hannah is nervous about the rap and the dance. Marissa got slusheed already courtesy of her time with Max. He tells her to look embarassed and hurt from the attack. Max keeps hitting her as Marissa films but Robert doesn’t see a sparkle in her eyes. Samuel is next and talks about the cold shocking the system to give you adrenaline. Robert and Zach love his take. They get towels afterwards.

Lindsay and Damian go next. Robert figured they would take the slushees the best. And they do. Damian curses when they yell cut, but they stick through the cut. Hannah excels at her shoot. Hannah says after the initial shock it wasn’t bad. Now it’s Alex’s turn and Zach thinks he needs to apply himself. Alex says he refuses to be in the bottom three another week. Cameron is next. He struggles with the slushees. Robert tells him to sing no matter what. Cameron worries about “hypothermic coma.”

We see them shoot the group dance scenes before it’s…Video time!

Coming Up: Bottom three!

The Gleekabes show up for the Bottom 3 Reveal. Robert and Zach address the group. Robert reveals the decision wasn’t unanimous. Samuel, Damian and Lindsay make the callback list. Marissa hopes that the homework challenge winner usually doesn’t go to the bottom 3 saves her. Alex gets sent to the bottom three as does Marissa. That leaves Hannah and Cameron. Based on tenacity…Cameron was the only one who stopped when hit. Hannah struggled in the vocal booth and the choreography. However, she still gave a great performance and is called back. Cameron is the last in the bottom three. They give them their original audition songs. Alex performs “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Marissa gets “Hate on Me" while Cameron gets “Love Can Wait.”

The bottom 3 go to practice their songs. Cameron gets to sing his own song and is happy it is this one. Nikki tells him to be super confident. Nikki then visits Alex who can’t pretend to be excited. He is doing the performance in drag. Marissa is the last to get Nikki’s opinion. She tells her this is high stakes as Marissa cries. Nikki tells her to keep fighting.

Coming Up: Ryan Murphy

Gleekabe extra: In the dorms, Hannah is in pain. The others laugh as she tries to do a split.

Ryan Murphy enters with Robert and Zach. They tell him that Alex tends to seem bored or disconnected. Alex comes out in drag and Ryan makes him explain his wardrobe choice. Alex recalls last week when Ryan asked him why he didn’t come out dressed as Amy Winehouse (RIP) and he took it to heart. Damn. I think Alex has a lousy attitude but he can sing the song. Jennifer Hudson, eat your heart out. Ryan asks about the “shutting down” and he says it’s him focusing too hard.

Robert tells Ryan that Marissa faltered in the recording studio and was just good when she can be great. She comes out and says she’s the “elusive Marissa” as this is her first appearance in the bottom three. She puts in Ryan’s name into the song and is just great overall. She thinks she did well when Ryan asks her how she did on the show. Ryan tells her that no matter what happens, she will always be performing. He tells her to be more in control.

Cameron is there because he broke character, Robert explains. It’s not a bad song, but I’d rather listen to him than watch him. Ryan questions his acting. He says that the slushee takes are one take wonders on the show. He tells Cameron to show him that he can keep up with the cast. Ryan says Cameron could be a star but now even Zach isn’t sure if he’s ready for season 3. Alex wonders what it means that he’s been in the bottom three three times. It means you need an attitude adjustment, moron. They keep telling you it’s attitude that lands you there. Rob asks who Ryan can write for as they decide the bottom three.

COMMERCIALS!

Robert posts the call back list. He meets with the Gleekabes to tell them. The bottom three get hugs before learning their fates. Marissa confesses it’s been fighting, fighting, fighting. Cameron talks about commitment while Alex talks about fate. Alex nearly bursts into tears upon reading the list, but he’s first so you know he’s safe. It’s Marissa who is not called back.

The Glee Project:

Alex
Bryce
Cameron
Damian
Ellis
Emily
Hannah
Lindsay
Marissa
Matheus
McKynleigh
Samuel

Excuse me…BULL! Ryan talked about a mistake he made around this episode, sending someone home who had a bad day but was really talented. And I know he meant Marissa. She was my favorite. Bull. Okay, Damian boy, you’re going to have to win it. If not, Hannah. I'm a lurker on Television Without Pity and a lot of people noticed that he usually sends the girls home. Once again, here we go. I think Rob and Zach got to Ryan and that’s why Cameron is still there.

Regarding posts on Television Without Pity…Ryan Murphy gave a lot of interviews regarding Season 3 of Glee and about the winner of “The Glee Project.” It would seem nearly everything he said was discounted by the other producers at the panel during San Diego Comic-Con. One poster earlier when I was lurking shamed the producers for lying. I was surprised. I think Ryan just gave interviews about what he wants to happen without confirming with the other producers.

Anyway, how mad are you?

Next week: Sexuality! Someone quits?

Quote of the Episode:

“Fat kids weren’t made to do floor work.”—Alex to Hannah
