Find out!
The models return home and Lacey celebrates her photo and notes it was au naturel. Lacey invites Nyle to join her in the Tyra Suite and he talks about having to step up his game and bring it in his confessional. As he and Lacey celebrate, Mikey says that he’s coming for her and that being deaf may make some people avoid hiring Nyle.
Upstairs, Ava asks Courtney not to tell her if anyone is talking behind her back again. She says it hurt her and Courtney says that starting that day, she was going to stay out of house drama. Bello, though, calls Courtney sneaky and says she listens to people’s conversations and then goes to tell the person they don’t like. We see clips from last week as Ava reinforces that she doesn’t want the drama, that it’s too draining. Courtney agrees.
Ava talks about her life and about being home schooled. She says she’s experiencing the outside world for the first time and she can’t handle the drama. She needs to pull herself back.
Justin and Mame get caught in the shower together. Justin tries to play it off as them trying to save money and be eco-conscious. Sure, that’s what you’re doing. Mikey isn’t fooled either and tells Justin that Mame likes him. He then confesses that he’s hooking up with Ashley as he hugs her in bed.
Hadassah tells someone that the judges’ criticism doesn’t affect her but she’s tired of being in the bottom two. She says she’s trying to learn about modeling and high-fashion. Meanwhile, Mame can’t stand Hadassah. She said she is THE beauty pageant girl in the house and she’s grasping the competition, so Hadassah has no excuse. And she’s also fought with everyone in the house—which causes us to cut back to Hadassah and Lacey’s fight from when Hadassah laid down her house rules. And then to her fight with Devin. Mame thinks she’s going to get herself sent home.
Wanna be on top?
The bus takes the model to a studio where they meet with Kelly. She introduces them to the winner of cycle 10—Whitney Thompson. Oh my god, hi, Whitney! You look good, girl. She congrats the contestants for making it this far and Mame gushes over the fact she gets to work with Whitney. Kelly says that Whitney gets a lot of work as a curvy model and works for one of her clients, SimplyBe, which has a great line for fiercely real women. And that’s who they’ll be working for today! Whitney tells them to be themselves and Kelly says they’ll have to fill in the blank: “Simply be ___________”.
But first, she has to put them in teams so they can work on a campaign in 30 minutes. Whitney will be modeling with each team, rocking SimplyBe’s clothes. The group that has the best campaign will be featured on the company’s website.
Teams:
Ashley and Ava
Courtney and Devin
Bello, Mikey and Mame
Hadassah and Lacey
Justin and Nyle
Courtney is nervous to work with Devin because he has a big personality, Hadassah and Lacey exchanged looks while Nyle thinks he and Justin will be a perfect team. Kelly sends them off to create their campaigns.
Ava says she’s trying to get herself back in the competition and Ashley says that she realized she had to give Ava some support. Kelly talks to Bello, Mikey and Mame about their tagline. Mikey says it’s “SimplyBe comfortable” but she says that doesn’t sell. She tells them sex sells and Mikey’s like “SimplyBe sex?” Kelly says she’s trying to help them out while Whitney nods next to her, no doubt happy Kelly wasn’t a judge on her cycle. Kelly suggests “SimplyBe seductive” and they like that.
Lacey says their tagline is “SimplyBe awkward” but Kelly doesn’t like that either. She suggests “SimplyBe sassy” and I think that definitely works for Lacey. Courtney and Devin decide to go with “SimplyBe unique” because they don’t look like the others in the competition. Devin finds he has to take the lead because he says Courtney just sits there, blinking.
Justin and Nyle step onto set and Nyle signs that they are “SimplyBe heard” and they will be romancing Whitney. She’s like “I’m all for this.” Everyone seems to have fun on the shoot and Mame says Nyle is relaxing and just letting go. At some point, Nyle loses his shirt. I’m not complaining.
As “SimplyBe seductive” steps up, Justin says that Mame is bringing it while Kelly’s like “You guys are at a New York party. Look like it!” Justin says he and Mame are getting closer…right before Kelly instructs Mame and Mikey to make out. Mame says it’s awkward with Justin and Ashley watching but she says it’s just a competition. If she has to kiss Mikey to win, she’ll kiss Mikey. Mikey doesn’t seem too into kissing her and Kelly’s like “Kiss da girl!” He finally does and Justin says he was surprised that he felt something when he saw that.
Ava and Ashley choose “SimplyBe fearless.” Ava hopes she could be fearless in this competition. Kelly says that Whitney is outmodeling the two of them. Ashley worries about Ava’s state of mind and how it will affect their performance as Kelly struggles with Ava. We go to…

When we come back, it’s to Lacey and Hadassah for “SimplyBe Sassy.” Hadassah hopes to use the fact Lacey is in the top but Kelly says that Whitney had to do all the work in their shoot. We then go to “SimplyBe Unique.” Devin does a lot of directing and Whitney thinks Courtney is suffering from being on a team with Devin because of his personality.
Kelly says that it was fun to work with the contestants. She tells Courtney that she wasn’t very unique because she let Devin overshadow her. Kelly tells Hadassah and Lacey that they struggled to get a good shot and that Whitney was the only sassy person in the shot. She tells Ava that she looks a little scared and that she wanted something stronger. She praises SimplyBe seductive, especially Mikey. Kelly praises SimplyBe Heard and Whitney says she liked that they kept trying new things, that she never had to sit and wonder what to do next. She especially liked Nyle. SimplyBe Heard is the favorite campaign but there can only be one winner. And it is…Nyle! He is overjoyed.
They head home to see their scores. Nyle sits on the top, with Mikey and Bello right under him. Ava isn’t happy to be on the bottom with a seven and is worried. Ava calls home and talks to her family. She also asks God to give her the strength.
Mikey calls his mom and Mame calls her. She tells her about Justin, gushing over her new guy. Speaking of Justin, he says he was affected by Mame’s kiss with Mikey because his feelings for her are getting stronger. He then proceeds to gush about her as we get footage of them cuddling.
In the morning, the models decide to clean their house. Everyone cleans…except Bello and Hadassah, who slept in. Hadassah wakes up and gets in the bathroom. Mame walks in a little bit later, having to really pee. Hadassah tells her not to do that and that it’s rude while Mame’s like “We’re both girls. Deal.” Even though Mame said sorry, Hadassah goes on about how rude she is and that she wants her to leave. Mame brushes her teeth (is she just trying to piss her off) and Hadassah is telling her to get out. Mame tells her to shut up and she’ll finish faster as Bello tries to pull her out. As Mame starts to curse Hadassah out, we go to…

Mame finishes brushing her teeth and leaves as Hadassah tells her to knock next time. Well, that ended up being anti-climatic.
The bus starts to leave as Bello and Ava chase after it. They catch it. And get to witness Mame vs. Hadassah round two. Everyone but Devin looks like they want off the bus. He gets really excited when Hadassah calls Mame ghetto. Mame tells Hadassah that she’s a nobody and that she (Mame) is the beauty pageant girl. Hadassah says she’s never seen a pageant girl act that way and than wishes Mame luck in the competition after Top Model. Mame says that Hadassah is just threatened because she’s doing better than her. Nyle, meanwhile, hands his phone to Mikey with an apology that he has to listen to that. Hadassah tells her to say excuse me and then someone (Mame?) tells her she is being ghetto.
The models walk into a studio with a set that looks like something out of a horror movie. Yu Tsai welcomes them and says they will be possessed by high fashion in their photoshoot. And they will be suspended in midair in an “exorcism.” Ava is surprised as a Christian but she knows she has to do well in order to stay in the competition. Yu Tsai says that everyone but Bello will be wearing contacts to turn their eyes blue like his. He sends them to hair and makeup.
Lacey loves her contacts while Hadassah struggles with hers. Mame says she’s done with Hadassah while Hadassah says she’s not going to pay attention to Mame because some people use negative energy to distract people.
Anyway, Mikey goes first and the photographer is once again Erik Asla. Is he the only one willing to work on this show now? Well, okay, they did have Massimo last week. But still! Mikey is lifted up and he says it’s a difficult shoot because of the harness. Yu Tsai seems happy and calls up Ava to go next. She seems to start out well but gets a bit lost. Yu Tsai yells at her to do something. He dismisses her.
We zoom pass Ashley, Devin and Lacey—all three who seem to do well. Mame is up next and impresses Yu Tsai. Hadassah says she wasn’t a fan but Yu Tsai was so oh well. Hadassah struggles a bit and Yu Tsai says he notices that when she gets frustrated, she smiles. He says that comes across as her not caring. She struggles and he tells her she looks too pretty. Hadassah says that’s a good thing in the beauty pageant world. But you’re not there. Ugly it up a bit! Yu Tsai gives up and Hadassah worries she might go home. Bello says he will not be happy if she does as we go to…

Bello is next and is willing to try anything. As Bello lets out scream after scream, Yu Tsai says he felt something. He just doesn’t know what it was. Justin is next but Erik doesn’t think he’s giving off “possessed” vibes. Justin struggles to figure out what it means to be possessed. Yu Tsai brings Mame over and has her stand on set with him. She liked coaching him and it seems to work. Courtney goes next and says she has a bunch of problems she needed to model through. But she seems lost up there. Nyle is put into the harness and Yu Tsai does his best to give him some directions. Nyle seems to understand and nails it.
The other models watch him and start to see him as competition. Lacey thinks he’s sexy. Are things about to get steamy in the Tyra Suite?
At home, the models clean off their makeup as Justin sets up a meeting between Mame and Hadassah. I guess we’re getting round three! Bello agrees with Justin at the house meeting that there is tension in the house. As round three progresses, Ava crumples in on herself while Lacey looks like she’d rather be in bed with Nyle. It seems Ava and a few others make their escape as Mame decides to put it to rest. Hadassah doesn’t look thrilled about it but is silent as we go to…

PANEL! Tyra welcomes the models. There are judges—Miss J Alexander and Kelly Cutrone. And there are prizes. Lacey is first up for judging. Kelly loves it and praises her fluidity and movement. Tyra says the one problem with her film was that her face didn’t really look possessed. Justin is next and Kelly loves it as well. Ms. J says that Justin’s face is starting to look the same and Tyra says he has to work on his expressions as his screaming looked like laughing.
Courtney is next. She got a good shot despite her struggles. Ms. J and Tyra praise it. Kelly points out a few ways she could’ve improved her picture and tells Courtney that if her modeling career doesn’t work out, she should look into horror films. Hadassah is next. After a few seconds of silence, Kelly and Ms. J say they love it. Ms. J just wanted to see more of her face. Tyra asks her why she’s crying and Hadassah says she didn’t think she did a good job so she’s surprised to have a good shot. Tyra tells her the photo is stellar but her film wasn’t so great.
Ms. J signs applause as Tyra congratulates Nyle for winning the challenge. The judges love his shot and Tyra asks him what he’s been eating. Kelly notes that he did really well once he took off his shirt. The judges joke that the key to Nyle’s success is to get naked. Lacey and I agree! Bello is up next and all I first see in the picture is his ass. It’s a fine ass, but it’s front and center. It’s all Ms. J can talk about. Kelly likes the position but she doesn’t like his face. Tyra is just cracking up as Ms. J tries to mimic the pose. Kelly says it’s not his best shot and Bello agrees.
Ashley is next and Ms. J asks if she’s planking. Kelly’s not sold on it but Tyra likes how flat Ashley got. Tyra’s not too sure about her face though, saying it doesn’t look possessed. Ms. J likes Mame’s pose and face. Tyra says she needed to show her foot. Tyra gives her some pointers. Devin follows and they like his pose. Tyra and Kelly tell Ava she looks like a housewife at panel. Ms. J thinks she could’ve been more involved in her photo. Tyra and Kelly say her face is stunning but they aren’t pleased with her body. Finally, we have Mikey. Tyra thinks it’s not amazing and that there was too much control.
Tyra dismisses the models to calculate their scores as we go to…

ELIMINATION! Best photo goes to…Nyle (10, 10, 9.7)! Yay! He’s joined by: Lacey (9, 8.8, 9.2), Mame (8.5, 8.8, 8.2), Hadassah (7.8, 8.9, 8.7), Justin (7.7, 8, 8.2), Devin (8.2, 8.5, 8), Ashley (8.1, 8.7, 8.4), Mikey (7.4, 7.8, 7.9), and Bello (8.3, 7.7, 6.6). That leaves Ava and Courtney in the bottom two. I was half right in my guess. Courtney: The judges are nervous. They wonder if she’s quirky in a high-fashion way or quirky in an uncomfortable way. Ava: Started strong but gotten weaker. So who stays? Courtney! She hugs Ava before taking her picture from Tyra, who tells her to stand tall and be confident.
Tyra tells Ava that she needs to inspire in person and tells her to go on, be strong and be better than she is. She hugs everyone and cries as she says she started strong but went downhill and only has herself to blame.
